Individual Creativity And Group Creativity

As employee creativity is an important source of organizationalinnovation and competitive advantage, organizations are increasinglyseeking to foster individual creativity. In many organizations people work inteams, and individual creativity is often enacted in this context and emergesto team creativity. Thus, we need to understand the dynamic interactionsbetween individual-level creativity and team-level creativity. Althoughthere are a few research examined that there’s correlations betweenindividual creativity and team creativity, we need to further explore thebottom-up relationship.In this research, the author first reads lots of related literature andmakes a review of individual learning orientation, team learning behavior,individual creativity, team innovative climate and team creativity. Based onthis, this study proposes the research hypothesis and model throughtheoretical analysis and reasoning. After giving out questionnaires andcollecting data, the author uses SPSS and HLM to analysis those data from368employees,68teams and examines our hypothesis. Last, the authordiscusses the results and makes the following conclusions:(1) The averagelevel of individual learning orientation is positively to team innovativeclimate through average level of individual creativity.(2) The average levelof individual creativity is positively to team creativity through teaminnovative climate.(3) The average level of individual learning orientationpositively the relationship between individual creativity and teaminnovative climate.(4) Team learning behavior positively relates to individual creativity and team creativity. Finally, the author discussesmanagement implications and future research directions based on theseconclusions.
