With the continued acceleration of global economic integration, themarket competition is becoming increasingly fierce,and especially in theelectronics manufacturing industry. The major electronics brands are facingmore and more severe cost and supply challenges. Many of the companieswill strengthen to control and reduce the supply chain costs to enhance thecompetitiveness of their businesses when they are facing the challenges. Ifthe company wants to survive in such a competitive environment, it has toimprove the quality of products and reduce the supply chain costs.6Sigma iscreated by people when they are having such a urgent needs in the company.As a new management model,6Sigma can help the companies to improvethe productivity or service quality.6Sigma has becoming the first choice formanagement after it helped GE and Motorola. In China, a lot of companiesare using6Sigma to improve the quality and competitiveness.The thesis reviews the basic theory for6Sigma and DMAIC in the beginning. And I use part I as an example of application of DMAIC.Theprocess for the research is: identify the key defectsâ†'analyze the reason fordefectsâ†'find the solution for improvingâ†'continuous improvement. Inthe project we used MSA (Measurement System Analysis), ANOVA (analysisof variance), single factor experimental design and other related tools. Bythese tools, we try to optimize the process and find the best solution forprocess. We improved the yield from50%to91%and reduce the cost. Thesuccessful implementation of the project provided a reference to otherimprovement project for similar products. And also it can help other companyto implement the6Sigma.
