Employees’ behavior has been the focus of organizational behavior and human resource management. In general, the organization can be divided into in role and out of role.Few years ago, the research on out of role mainly focused on organizational citizenship behavior. However, with further analysis, scholars found that the behavior out of role were not employees’ own free will.Lots of companies have problems, for instance, employees are forced to work overtime or issue, which behavior can be explained as compulsory citizenship behavior. And this forced behavior may bring negative impacts on companies and individuals. Thus, we must understand the cause of compulsory citizenship behavior so that we can take preventive measures. Work irrationality will lead to role stress thereby causing employees’ compulsory citizenship behavior.Although some scholars have obtained the result through interviews and considered that work characteristic factors will affect employees’ perception and have an influence on their compulsory citizenship behavior, failed to investigate the theory and its related impacts, let alone empirical research. Therefore, it’s necessary to do this empirical research. To solve the above problems, this study will establish a "job characteristic-role stress-compulsory citizenship behavior" path model on the basis of previous literature, using questionnaires to integrate and test the theoretical model. After controlling some variables such as employees’ gender, age and work time, the main conclusions are:(1)Routine tasks will be a negative effect on employees’ compulsory citizenship behavior.(2)Intrinsically satisfying tasks will have a negative effect on employees’ compulsory citizenship behavior.(3)Task feedback will have a negative effect on employees’ compulsory citizenship behavior.(4)Role stress plays a partial intermediary role between routine tasks, intrinsically satisfying tasks and compulsory citizenship behavior, and plays a intermediary role between the task feedback and compulsory citizenship behavior.
