Mining is viewed as one of the important economic activities, which have the potential of contributing immensely to the development of economies of countries. As a result, mineral development requires careful regulation and monitoring by government and prudent management of the resources by companies engage in its production. Theaim of this paper is to assess the conditions that influence investment in the mineral industry of Ghana. The paper first surveys literature on the determinants of investment to identify key conditions, under which host countries attract mining investments. It then builds an evaluative framework that allows for comparative analysis. The data used in the study were the response of experts from the fields of mining and mining government institution, and investment managers that are professional experts in the mining industry. This thesis used an extensive research of literature and field research, to construct the evaluation index system of three level proposed by the AHP model to calculate the weights of each index and ranking of the main influencing factors. Its findings show that the Geological development & Infrastructure with the weight of 0.5171 has the highest score follow by Political 0.2336, Economic & Financial 0.1061, Regulatory & Fiscal 0.1049 and Environmental & Social 0.0385 respectively. This means that mining investors consider geological development & infrastructure as a very important factor in their investment decision-making. Due to the limitation of the research conditions, this paper despite the wide selection of the mining companies, government agencies, industry advisory committee, consulting agencies, universities and other experts as survey objects, and the strong support of the relevant government agencies and professional organizations, however, the number of samples is still relatively limited. The study hopes that, future research on the subject matter will engage a wide questionnaire couple with a wider population over a long period of time for a more reliable conclusion.
