| Urbanization means the process of agglomeration and dispersion of city’s factors.Suburbanization comes into being, when urbanization forms city’s diffusion, and it quickly becomes the future tendency of big cities in the word. Suburbanization that transfers population, industry, service, office industry from urban center to suburbs, has significant impact on necessary economics ties, industrial upgrading, space reconstruction of the whole.In the last century 90’s, suburbanization has become the academic scholar in China.However, the development of suburbanization was still at the primary stage, and its range of influence including urban space, industry, population was only limited to the near field of the center area. Nowadays, suburbanization has entered the middle stage. The spread of cities,traffic congestion and other large urban diseases are afflicting the cities’ sustainable development. Suburbanization faces the new challenges in the new period, so the simple experience of regulation of suburbanization has unable to meet our special environment of cities’ development. Based on smart growth and new urbanism, the paper proposes the cities’ expansion should abandon the mode of pie, emphasize the ecological, green, low-carbon,intelligent pattern of development, and build compact, high intelligent, energy-saving,ecological, green cities in the background of new urbanization in order to provide solutions for the current plight of the cities.Although the phenomenon of suburbanization has emerged in the early 90’s in Changchun city and some scholars has done some researches, the study period is only at the primary stage. Based on suburbanization of Changchun, the paper analyses the Changchun’s suburbanization status and mechanism of development from six aspects of population,industry, residence, commerce, office and education, and explores the tendency of Changchun’s suburbanization in the background of New Urbanization. The urban lands expand rapidly in the suburbanization of Changchun. The phenomenon that industry has dominated suburbanization is very obvious. The range of industrial suburbanization has increased gradually from the near field of the primary stage to suburban towns. The extended form is not limited to the circle expansion, and enclave expansion begins to appear. As the main city residential space, residential suburbanization is relatively slow compared to industrial suburbanization, and its expansion range is at the near field of center city. Besides,the residential land density increases in the center city, and replacement of function has played an essential role. Commercial suburbanization began lately, and it emerges after population suburbanization come into being. However, commercial is not obvious in the professional and agglomeration of composite space. Suburbanization of office and educationresult from government’s macro regulation and control. At this stage, they are only discrete trend, and have not really started suburbanization.This paper is divided into four main parts:Firstly, it analyses the status quo of suburbanization of Changchun. The Changchun is divided into the center area, suburb and suburban district. It analyses the process of suburbanization from six aspects of population, industry, residence, commerce, office and education, evaluates the development level of Changchun’s suburbanization, and proposes the pro3 blems it faces.Secondly, it analyses the driving mechanism of suburbanization of Changchun. It explores the mechanism from economics, policies and so on.Thirdly, it proposes the tendency of development of Changchun’s suburbanization in the background of New Urbanization. We should guide the rational development of suburbanization with the new idea of New Urbanization, smart growth of center city, and smart contraction of suburb.At last, it puts forward the development path in view of current situation and trend of development of suburbanization, including urban space, industrial structure, service facilities and policy regulation. |
