With the development of each country in the world, there are always accompanied with the problems of Urbanization and Income gap, so many scholars have been pay attention to not only them, but also their relations. The Yangtze River Delta Region (YRD) has a long history and superior strategic location. It has the fastest economic growth and is the most active region co-operation of China. As the emerging economic zone based on the Yangtze River Delta Region, the Pan Yangtze River Delta Region (Pan-YRD) both has the YRD Urban Agglomeration of economic strength and the poorer northern cities of Jiangsu Province, western cities of Zhejiang Province, cities of Anhui Province. Therefore, for the Pan-YRD, both the level of urbanization and urban-rural income gap exist significant regional variation. Taking this area as an example, the study on how to promote the process of urbanization and improve urban-rural income gap has better typicality and important practical significance. The content of this paper consists of five chapters. The first chapter is an introduction, which discusses the research background and significance literature review and narration, research programme, innovations and inadequacies. The second chapter is the theoretical part, which first makes a definition for urbanization, new pattern urbanization and the spatial spillover effects of urbanization and then introduces related theory of urbanization and urban-rural income gap. The third chapter makes spatial statistical analysis of the Pan-YRD’s urban-rural income gap and finds an evident feature of spatial cluster, which provides reasonable support for the establishment of spatial econometric model in the fourth chapter. The fourth chapter is the empirical part, which first, according to the mentioned theory, models are built; second, establish spatial econometric model without spatial spillover effects and spatial econometric model with spatial spillover effects separately; last, makes an analysis of empirical results. The fifth chapter is research findings and policy recommendations on narrowing the Pan-YRD’s urban-rural income gap.According to the analysis of this article, the main conclusions are as following: (1)2003-2012, the Pan-YRD’s urban-rural income gap firstly increased, and then decreased and has stepped distribution and significantly spatial correlation. (2) Urbanization’s influence degree and way on urban-rural income gap depend on path choice of in the process of urbanization. Population urbanization rate, the added value of the secondary and tertiary industry of the proportion of GDP, the opening to the outside world level and education investment could narrow urban-rural income gap. Meanwhile, government financial expenditure of the proportion of GDP and financial development scale could expand urban-rural income gap. (3)The Pan-YRD’s urban-rural income gap exists spatial spillover effects. And without spatial spillover effects, it would underestimate the influence for urban-rural income gap of economic development level, industrial structure, financial development scale and education investment and Overestimate the influence for urban-rural income gap of population structure, government intervention and the opening to the outside world level. (4) There has a "inverted U-shaped" relationship between the Pan-YRD’s economic development level and urban-rural income gap. Moreover, it finds that the inverted U inflection point of per capita GDP is 19985 yuan.
