Taking 26 major cities in the Yangtze River Delta as research objects, based on the connotation and extension of new urbanization,an evaluation index system was constructed from the four dimensions of population, economy, society, and ecology. The comprehensive measurement results of the new urbanization quality in 26 cities from 2008 to 2017 were obtained.Based on the measurement results, analyze the spatiotemporal changes of the new urbanization in the Yangtze River Delta, grasp the development status of the new urbanization in the Yangtze River Delta, and analyze the deep-seated causes of the spatiotemporal changes and differences.Highquality development is the overall goal of new urbanization in the Yangtze River Delta. In order to reduce the large gap between the status quo and the goals,on the basis of considering the actual development of the Yangtze River Delta and the construction experience of developed countries abroad, the dynamic factors for optimizing new urbanization in the Yangtze River Delta region are summarized.Including labor, land, capital, and technology as the basic driving force of urbanization construction, the key driving force of government regulation, the sustainable driving force of industrial development, and the driving force of opening up.Based on the selected proxy indicators,an exploratory spatial data analysis(ESDA)of each dynamic factor is performed to verify that the spatial correlation does exist. The panel spatial Dubin model(SDM)is constructed to verify the spatial effects of new urbanization and its dynamic factors. It is found that the spatial effect of the new urbanization in the Yangtze River Delta is around 0.25,and the new urbanization in various regions affects each other spatially. The quality of new urbanization in neighboring areas is increased by 1% unit, which has a spillover effect of 0.25% units in new urbanization in this area.At the same time, labor, land, government regulation, industrial development, and opening up have all produced significant spatial spillover effects, indicating that the four driving forces, namely the basic driving force, key driving force, enduring driving force, and accelerated driving force, are all driving factors affecting the new urbanization of the Yangtze River Delta. The driving effects of labor, land, and technology are obvious. The dynamic effects of government regulation, industrial development, and opening up need to be further optimized. In order to give full play to the driving force of each dynamic factors,we propose countermeasures from the perspective of the core area and other cities.
