The constant and rapid development of social economy and the improvement ofindustrial structure laid the groundwork for the realization of the―12th five-year-plan‖.However, the driving force of economic development was weakened by some emergingproblems which also jeopardized the progress of reform and open. For one thing, ourcountry had entered into the aged society. The aging population had exceeded200million in2013and this trend could not be changed and would be more obvious andserious in coming30years. The payment risk of social endowment insurance fundincreased because of the exacerbation of aging. Therefore, delayed retirement was animminent issue in the country. For another thing, labor transfer and increasing laborhave imposed heavy pressure on employment. Structural unemployment appeared as aresult of mismatch between employees’ quality and employers’ requirement. Delayedretirement and employment pressure would coexist for a long time in future and themain conflicts of them were due to reduction of jobs and slowdown of industrialstructure optimizing. The paper will discuss root reasons of the conflicts from twoaspects. First, the inherent flaw of our country’s pension system is the primary reason ofthe conflict. Second, the mismatch between industrial structure and employmentstructure bring about structural unemployment. It seems that the coordination betweendelayed retirement and employment pressure would rely on the settlement of the twoproblems mentioned above which are strategic ones related to the economicdevelopment of our country. To solve these problems, many conditions have to becreated. The first one is to perfect social security system and thus ensuring the livingstandard of people. Industrial structure should also be optimized reasonably and accordwith national condition so as to improve the economic quality as well as ensure fullemployment. In addition, national economic development would be promoted bybuilding innovative society, which will lay a solid foundation for the coordinationbetween delayed retirement and employment pressure. In conclusion, delayed retirement would lead to negative impact on national labormarket as a result of our special national condition despite that the argument abouteffects of delayed retirement on employment continues in the whole world. The paperbrings forward some ways to coordinate delayed retirement and employment pressure.First, raising the statutory retirement age and reforming the retirement system throughflexible retirement on the premise of not increasing employment pressure and relievingpension pressure is proposed. Another way is to alleviate the loss of delayed retirementby perfecting old-age security system. Present employment policy should also bediversified in order to relieve employment pressure and smooth economic progress. Finally, building innovative society–thereby eradicating the conflict between delayedretirement and employment pressure and realizing healthy and orderly nationaleconomic development was posed in the paper.
