At present, China is in a critical period of economic transformation and industrialupgrading, it makes the urgent needs for a large number of highly qualified skilled personnel.With this year’s two sessions "to accelerate the development of modern vocational education,"the development of vocational education has entered a new phase, the modern vocationaleducation will guide a direction for future development of vocational education. Xinjiang is inthe west as well as the large-scale development by leaps and bounds, this trend is moresignificant. Turpan is a region in high degree of aggregation of minorities, but also in remoteand poor, in order to accelerate the development of the this region’s economy, promote thedevelopment of vocational education in the rural areas is a necessary way.In this paper, rural vocational education as a research starting point, based on the currentsituation of economic and social development of the Turpan area, use the literature studies,field surveys, qualitative and quantitative analysis methods,"SWOT" analysis model,selectthe Turpan area secondary vocational and technical schools for the study, throughquestionnaires to study the rural Vocational Education Development problems. Through thequestionnaire data collation, and the combination of the Xinjiang Statistical Yearbook,Xinjiang education enrollment plan, national economic and social development of the Turpanarea Statistical Bulletin and other macroeconomic data, we can summarize the problem ofrural vocational education development in the Turpan region as the following aspects: First,the minority areas have an biased awareness of secondary vocational education; Second,professional and curriculum unreasonable; Third, teachers are weak; Fourth, the trainingconditions are limited, school-enterprise cooperation is not deep; Fifth, graduate employmentmechanism is not perfect.In order to improve the healthy and rapid development of vocational education in ruralareas in Turpan, to better promote economic growth in this region, combined with thecharacteristic that the region has a larger proportion of minority population, this paper putforward these following countermeasures and suggestions for the existing problems: First,guide concepts changes and concern the development of vocational education; Second,innovative the course system, optimize the structure of professional; Third, update vocationaleducation ideas, strengthen teacher construction; Fourth, deepen the school system to ensurethe quality of vocational education; Fifth, adhere to the employment-oriented, soundemployment mechanism; Sixth, leveraging the opportunity of assistance to Xinjiang topromote vocational education construction.
