In1972, China and Germany established formal diplomatic relations. Currently, China is one of the rapidly developing countries in the Asian-Pacific Region, the role of China in the world economy and politics steadily grows. And Germany is one of the most developed countries and one of the major member states within the EU, in recent years Germany’s influence to the world economic and political development is also increasing. In2011, China and Germany became strategic partners. In March2014, the leaders of two states announced the establishment of Sino-German bilateral all-round strategic partnership. This means further development and growth of Sino-German bilateral relations.Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany, bilateral cooperation in trade and economic has stable development. Currently, trade is the main area of Sino-German cooperation. China and Germany are each other’s biggest trade partners in Europe and Asia. Germany exports to China mainly capital-intensive goods, such as high-tech equipment and machines, and imports labor-intensive goods, such as textiles and raw materials, furniture, toys etc. On one hand, the Sino-German cooperation has a great contribution for the optimization of the Chinese export products’structure and enhancing of the Chinese products’ competitiveness. On the other hand, Chinese demand for German technology is good for consolidation of Germany’s position in the EU integration. The complementarity of bilateral economic cooperation lets Germany and China keep mutual benefits and win-win cooperation.40years Sino-German trade and economic cooperation laid the foundation for all-round cooperation between two countries and strengthened mutual trust between the states. At the same time, Chinese economy’s growth and the growth of the Chinese products’competitiveness increase the possibility of trade frictions between China and Germany..Existing problems should be solved on time, then they cannot influence on the positive tendency of the bilateral economic relations’ development.This paper mainly studies the Sino-German economic and trade cooperation. During this study large number of information, related to the development of Sino-German economic and trade relations, relevant published studies, reports and statistical data of Sino-German trade and investment were collected, selected and analyzed. This paper analyzed the main products’ import and export structure, as well as the respective share of every country in the foreign trade of another one, explained the characteristics of the economic and trade cooperation between China and Germany and existing problems, studied the favorable and unfavorable factors in the development of Sino-German economic and trade cooperation. Finally, this study described fields of further Sino-German cooperation and proposed measures and policies to promote the development and strengthening of the bilateral economic and trade relations.This paper includes following parts:the first chapter is an introduction, mainly introduced the background and significance of the research, related researches review, research methods and structure of the paper. The second chapter is the research on the related theories, including the Theory of Comparative Advantage, the Factor Endowment Theory, the Technological Gap Theory, the Product Cycle Theory and the Advantage of Backwardness Theory. The third chapter is the historical review of Sino-German trade and economic relations. The fourth chapter is an analysis of current Sino-German economic and trade cooperation. The fifth chapter is prospect of Sino-German economic and trade cooperation development and suggestion of measures for further cooperation. The sixth chapter is the conclusion.This study has important practical significance, it provides a scientific basis for developing of Sino-German economic cooperation, suggests new possible policies and options. This paper can be a useful reference for business people and relevant decision-making departments in choosing the strategy for Sino-German cooperation.
