As a management method to closely combine the theory with practice, the project management has a wide influence in modern society. More and more industries and companies start to apply the project management as a main management tool to operate the company. The choice of the project management mode fundamentally changes the management operation method and improves the efficiency of the project implementation. The performance evaluation to the project manager who is the project leader is also the evaluation to the project result and the project team, which means a lot to the project promotion enterprise especially.The performance is the unity of the behavior and results. Treating the performance as the results only will lead that the working process cannot be controlled effectively, while treating the performance as the behavior is not good to develop the enterprise performance guide and incentive effect. In the past, many performance evaluation methods, such as DuPont Analysis, Economic Value Added, are limited to treat the performance as a state of the results in the aspect of finance. With the development of the performance evaluation theory, the methods like Balance Scored Card (BSC), Key Performance Indicator (KPI) come forth to well balance the above phenomena, meanwhile, the performance will be evaluated more comprehensively and accurately.At the present stage, H Branch Company is in difficulty time. With a large number of fixed assets, material stock and bank loan, the company has a deficit in successive years. In order to reverse the deficit, the leader of the company decides to change the organization structure and apply the project manager system by building six gearbox project groups:rail transportation, mining machinery, marine products, construction machinery, metallurgic and port machinery, and wind power equipment. The functional vice presidents hold the post of the project manager to be fully in charge of the marketing and manufacturing of the products. It is proved that such kind of organization structure meets the market demand. The operating performance of H Branch Company starts to improve. Meanwhile, H Branch Company makes a preliminary exploration to evaluate the performance of the project manager and chooses the relevant evaluation indicators to directly associate the evaluation results with the salary of the project manager, which has a great incentive effect.Based on the actual situation of H Branch Company, this paper analyzes the present project manager performance evaluation methods, finds the existing problems and causes of the problems, then finds the solutions of the problems. This paper applies the scientific theories to find the performance evaluation methods of project manager which fits H Branch Company most. Based on BSC, KPI, this paper optimizes the performance evaluation methods of project manager of H Branch Company, and builds the performance evaluation model of project manager which combine the short-term objective with the long-term strategy, combine the work behavior with the performance of the project manager, and combine the quantitation and qualitation of the evaluation indicator.
