The Urban Tourism Efficiencies Of Cities In Metropolitan Areas Based On DEA Model

Metropolitan is one of the main platform of national economic and social development. It plays an important role in the economic life of the country. The construction and development of metropolitan led to the development of metropolitan area tourism, offer new opportunities and conditions for the metropolitan area tourism. Metropolitan city tourism has become a new comprehensive social phenomenon, obtained more and more widespread attention, but also gradually revealed some problems. Extensive and over-investment development of tourism in the city lead to the low efficiency of city tourism, city tourism research on the efficiency of the metropolitan area appears increasingly important. Research on the efficiency of metropolitan city tourism seems increasingly important.After an extensive literature summary, discovered that the study of city tourism efficiency, most scholars are confined to explore theoretical and macro level. Especially the domestic scholars are still a lack of empirical analysis of city tourism efficiency. This paper based on summarizing the concepts about the city tourism, city tourism efficiency, metropolitan tourism and the relevant research results at home and abroad, data envelopment analysis (DEA) ideas, constructed the evaluation index system of city tourism efficiency. Then the paper evaluated the urban tourism efficiency of25cities in Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta metropolitan areas. Finally,25cities divided the types of tourism development into participatory, growth, mature, proposed strategies to improve the efficiency of city tourism for each type of city.This paper has these conclusions:In2010, the two major metropolitan city tourism efficiency at a relatively high level, some of the city’s tourism production in an invalid state. In decomposition efficiency, the technical efficiency is higher, the scale efficiency is lower.As time goes on, the city tourism efficiency of the two major metropolitan has been at a high level, at the intermediate stage of city tourism development.By the spatial distribution of metropolitan city tourism efficiency and its decomposition efficiency in every period, we could know that the total efficiency and scale efficiency exhibited some degree of regional differentiation, technical efficiency showed no significant regional differentiation.During2005-2010, it is difficult to determine space distribution of total factor productivity about the two major metropolitan cities, the space distribution of tourism total factor productivity is weaker than the city tourism efficiency.In this study, based on different metropolitan cities in tourism resource has differences on the ability to use, has some scientific significance. To provide a scientific basis for use of resources invested in the metropolitan area, as well as improving city tourism efficiency.
