The Efficiency Of Logistics In Yangtze River Delta And The Regional Economic Growth

With the rapid growth of China’s domestic economy, the Tertiary industry can flourish in these years, in the meanwhile, it can lead to a huge demand on the Logistics industry. The status of the Logistics industry,"the third profit source" as reflected in its way can promote the transformation of economic growth, reduce the cost of running the economy and promote sustainable economic development. The topic of Logistics industry has become the focus of academic research topic. As Yangtze River delta area has the strongest comprehensive strength in China, its economic development can drive, traction and radiation throughout the region of East China, the Yangtze River and the country’s economic development. Therefore, the research on logistics efficiency and the relationship between logistics industry and economic growth in the Yangtze River delta area has important practical significance.This paper is divided into six parts, the first two chapters mainly discuss the related textual references and scientific achievements on logistics theory, logistics efficiency, economic growth theory and industrial economics. The third chapter describes and analyzes the economic development status and development of logistics industry in the Yangtze River delta area. The fourth chapter uses measurement methods to analyze the logistics industry and the development of the Yangtze River delta area in two aspects, one from the logistics industry and the economic growth of Yangtze River delta area, on the other hand, this analysis is from the correlation effect of the logistics industry and the three industries in the Yangtze River delta area. The fifth chapter is the core content of this paper and it analyzes the current situation of logistics efficiency in the Yangtze River delta area. This paper use three-stage DEA method to analyze the logistics efficiency in the31provinces and cities nationwide, because of the advantages of the DEA method on comparative analysis. It will reveal the situation and problems of the logistics development in the Yangtze River delta area. The last part of this paper is to give some recommendations which are based on the conclusions in the paper. The main conclusions are summarized as follows.According to the measuring test, It discusses the relationship between logistics industry and the economic growth of Yangtze River delta area, and it can indicate that there is a long-term co-integration relationship among Per Capital GDP of the Yangtze River delta region, gross production of logistics industry, logistics network mileage, and cargo turnover. In addition, based on the fixed effects model, it can estimate that there exists positive correlation between logistics industry and economic growth of the Yangtze River delta area. Thus the expansion of the logistics market size can drive the economic growth in the Yangtze River delta area strongly.According to analyze the correlation effects and ripple effects of the logistics industry and three industries in the Yangtze River delta area. It could indicate that the development of the logistics industry in the Yangtze River delta area is closely related to the development of secondary industry and tertiary industry in this area. Additionally, the promoting function of the logistics industry to regional economy is higher than the stimulating effect which it will be suffered, therefore, it is necessary to develop the logistics industry to boost the overall economy.According to the analysis of the three-stage DEA method on the logistics efficiency in Yangtze River delta area, it can find out that the integrated logistics efficiency in Yangtze River delta area is significantly higher than the central and western regions. On the other hand, based on the analysis of the situation of logistics efficiency in the Yangtze River delta area, it can state that the pure technical efficiency in the Yangtze River delta area is at the middle and lower reaches, and it in the increasing return to scale. It can conclude that the logistics modernization level and logistics overall technological level of the Yangtze River delta area is relatively low. In addition, the scale factors also restrict the logistics efficiency in the Yangtze River delta area.According to the analysis above, this paper proposes to expand the size of the Yangtze River delta area, improve the technical level of the logistics industry and accelerate the process of modernization of the logistics industry to develop the logistics industry in the Yangtze River delta area which can promote the development of the secondary industry and tertiary industry, and finally reach the purpose of promoting economic development.
