Vietnam-China Border Trade Development: Present Situation Analysis

Since1991, Vietnam and China gradually realized the normalization ofrelations between the two countries, the economic and trade cooperation between thetwo countries is gradually rising, and the development of border trade between thetwo countries play a great role. Including the enlargement of the scale of border tradebetween the two countries and the improvement of trade commodity structure, thetwo countries border trade cooperation continued to deepen, cooperation isincreasingly diversified. Trade between the two countries in the border is becomemore and more the focus of bilateral economic and trade cooperation. I think, thetwo countries border trade is developing fast, its reason is various, such as the twocountries has a long history, special geographical advantages and the traditionalfriendship, the characteristics of the two economies are highly complementary, andthe two governments offers many preferential for border trade which also played acrucial role. Vietnam and the development of China’s border trade in both countrieshas many positive influence: the development of border trade promoted theeconomic development of border area, and improved people’s living standards, at thesame time sales and exchange of goods increased border people’s communicationand greatly reduce the gap between people; In addition to enlarging the size of thedomestic market, business and trade increased the local fiscal revenue, whichstimulates the development of the tertiary industry, that provide more employmentopportunities for the people. The development of border trade perfects the system ofnational economic development. As well, the border trade accelerated thedevelopment at the same time also brought some negative effects, but along with the globalization of the21st century trade environment it was a good for both sides, thetwo countries border trade development also become more stable. In my opinion, forthe long-term stable developing and maintaining friendly trade relations, the twogovernments have to operate management order and coordination mechanism,standardized management and strengthen the detection of product quality. At thesame time, establishing border trade cooperation organization, strengthen bilateralborder region official communication, so that the problems and difficulties arisingfrom the trading activities will be resolved in a timely. The orientation of cooperationexchanges, pay attention to the development of tourism and goods transportationservices. The border trade ports construction also should as a focal point ofcooperation between the two countries, the establishment of China-ASEAN freetrade area and the construction of like these regions are inseparable. In the long term,the border trade between the two countries will have a new tide of development.
