Highway traffic plays such a significant role in the county transportation. The relationship between urban and rural areas, and between countryside and countryside contact mainly depend on the highway traffic. With the improving of urbanization level, people pursuit a more convenient and efficient transportation, the demand of traffic is also growing. Highway traffic can meet the needs of people stream and logistics or not in the development of urbanization, whether the road traffic and urbanization coordinated development is worthy of further study. The level of urbanization of county(city) field of Zhengzhou city is high, and the development is fast, highway traffic can meet the needs of rapid urbanization or not is worthy of study.This paper through summary the domestic and foreign related research on highway traffic and urbanization, found that the lack of systemic research theory, highway traffic and urbanization less empirical research, the scope of the study are centered in provincial and city area, and from the view of space-time of highway traffic and urbanization less. Therefore, this article choose county(city) field of Zhengzhu city as the research object, from the view of space-time to research highway traffic and urbanization coordinated development situation. Firstly, in this paper, we defines these concepts of highway transportation, urbanization, coordination development, summarize the theoretical basis of harmonious development of highway traffic and urbanization. Using tabular data, the article analyzes the development characteristics of county(city) field of Zhengzhou ciy of highway traffic and urbanization. Secondly, this paper constructs the index system of highway transportation and urbanization comprehensive development, by using entropy method to evaluation the comprehensive development level of county(city) field of Zhengzhou city of highway transportation and urbanization quantitativly; According to the comprehensive evaluation of highway transportation and urbanization results, combined with the coordination degree and development degree formula, this article calculated the coordination degree and coordinated development degree of county(city) field of Zhengzhou city of highway traffic and the urbanization from 2002 to 2012. From the angle of time to analysis the stage characteristics of the coordination degree and coordinated development degree of the six city between highway traffic and the urbanization, and make a concrete analysis to the characteristics of the development of each stage; based on coordination degree and coordinated development degree of the change process of development for ten years, developing types each city belongs to; based on the qualitative evaluation of coordination degree and coordinated development degree standards, to make the qualitative evaluation of the coordinated development of the situation in each city for ten years; and explain the coordinated development status of single city between highway traffic and urbanization. Once again, select 2002, 2007 and 2012 three year analysis the coordination degree and coordinated development degree of the spatial difference of county(city) field of Zhengzhou city highway traffic and urbanization, and comparative analysis of the coordination degree and coordinated development degree; analysis the change of coordination type and coordinating development types that occur in the north and south direction. Finally, in view of the above evaluation results, put forward the suggestion of coordinated development between highway traffic and urbanization of county(city) field of Zhengzhou city.The results of the study found that :(1) the urbanization comprehensive development level of six cities present increasing trend overall, and the trend is very similar; the highway traffic comprehensive development level of six cities as a whole also showed a rising trend, most of the cities’ highway traffic in recent years develop fast, However, in parts of the city develop volatility.(2) From the time evolution angle analysis, the coordination degree and coordinated development degree of six cities’ highway traffic and the urbanization can be divided into three periods, the improving period, transition period and continue to development period, coordination degree and coordinated development degree showed slow development in promotion period, fluctuating development in transition period. and the trend of stable or rise in continue to development period. According to the development trend of coordination degree and coordinated development degree classified which types of these cities belongs to, based on coordination degree these cities can be divided into the type of basically unchanged, the type of fluctuation and the type of increased first and then decreased; on the basis of the coordinated development degree these cities can be divided into two types, the type of keep rising and the type of fluctuating. In order to analysis the coordinated development of a single city in-depth, the article separately selected six cities’ coordinated development process to study from 2000-2012.(3)Analysis from the angle of space, in 2002, six cities’ coordination degree are low; in 2007, the coordination degree change has rise and decline two types, The coordination degree of Gongyi city, Xinmi city, Xinzheng city and Dengfeng city rise, the coordination degree of Zhongmu county and Xingyang city decline;in 2012,the development of coordination degree still exist rise and fall, the city of coordination degree rising are Zhongmu county, Gongyi city and Xingyang city, the city of coordination degree rising are Xinzheng city, Xinmi city and Dengfeng city. Space division of types of coordination degree, coordination and imbalance city each half in 2002, the northern area of coordination degree is better than the Southern; in 2007, the city of the coordination accounted for four, the coordination degree of the southern area is better than northern; in 2012, the city of high coordinated and the city of moderate coordinated accounted for two each, the city of moderate imbalance and the city of severe imbalance accounted for one each, the northern area of coordination degree is better than the Southern. The coordinated development degree is low in 2002, the main reason is the low development degree; in 2007, the coordinated development degree have varying degrees of rise, the largest increase is Xinzheng city, and the minimum increase is Xingyang city; in the 2012, most of the city are in a harmonious state, the coordinated development degree of Dengfeng city decreased a little, the remaining five rise, and the largest is Zhongmou county.Space division of types of coordinated development degree, in the 2002, all the cities basically are in a state of disorder, the main reason is the low development degree, in the 2007, the cities of coordination are only two, imbalance cities still accounted for the most part, in the 2012, except Dengfeng city belongs to moderate disorders, other cities are basically in coordination state. By contrast, most of the city’s coordination degree and coordinated development degree show consistency, individual cities show different.(4) Highway traffic and urbanization coordinated development degree promotion suggestions mainly have following several aspects. to improve the development level of highway traffic and urbanization, optimizing the highway network; do a good job of highway transportation and other modes of transport convergence. do a good job of industrial division and cooperation in various areas.
