Urbanization is a major project concerned by academia. Especially after the concept of new urbanization was proposed, researching on urbanization which becomes the common focus of the topic in academia and some apartments of the government is hot again. In the context of economic globalization, urbanization is the only way to modernize the country, achieve balanced regional development, achieve industrial transformation and upgrading and solve the problems of farmers, and a powerful engine to maintain economic development healthy and sustainable. At present, China has entered a decisive phase of building a moderately prosperous society. Because of the rapid economic transformation, urbanization is also ushered the critical period of in-depth development. Hexi Corridor is located in the hub of the Silk Road, strategic status of the region is important and the significance of studying the development of urbanization in the region is important to promote the construction of new towns and construct the Silk Road economic belt.This article will estimate the comprehensive level of twenty counties’ urbanization in the region(from 1995 to 2012), understanding the current situation of Urbanization in the Hexi Corridor, basing the essential meaning of urbanization and applying the entropy method, will measures the trend of the centre of gravity of urbanization, using GIS and GeoDA software platform, will exposes the regular pattern of urbanization spatial structural evolution, applying spatial clustering method and autocorrelation, and will analyzes the drive factors of every county urbanization development, using the space geographically Weighted Regression Model based on former conclusion. The results show that:(1) Urbanization comprehensive level of evaluation results ①Comprehensive level of urbanization of 20 county trends towards rise year by year, the scores of Jiayuguan City and Jinchuan District are the highest, the scores of Aksay and Subei follow them and the sores of Zhangye and Wuwei City and the counties under their jurisdiction are relatively low. The west Comprehensive level of urbanization is higher than eastern, which shows significant differences of comprehensive level between city and counties. ②the evolution of each county urbanization show that the economic subsystem urbanization lead space urbanization, which obviously effect social urbanization and population urbanization slow growth and descript that each county in Hexi Corridor urbanization development model is extensive. ③ each subsystem of the county showed a high full-height, a low full low in every county. City development significantly is higher than counties. Under entire geographical environment of Hexi Corridor, the feature of integration development of the urban city and county is not obvious.(2)Measuring the center of gravity of comprehensive level urbanization, analyzing spatial autocorrelation and exploring comprehensive level of urbanization hotspot show that:①the center of gravity of comprehensive level of urbanization is in Suzhou District, The center move from the northwest to the southeast of Suzhou District. It moves a long distance in periods and a short distance in continuous time, which trends exhibit volatility and recurrent in localized②Like the center of gravity of comprehensive level urbanization, General direction of movements of the center of gravity of the urban population showed significant features in some years. From 2000 to 2004, the center of gravity of urban population had a large range of movement in every year, which appeared "Z" type in the four years, and the rest of the year the center of gravity moving is not significant, which exhibits volatility and repeated in some areas.③ By calculating and testing Moran’s I index, counties in Hexi Corridor urbanization comprehensive level of spatial autocorrelation is not obvious and the spatial pattern of the counties shows the distribution of micro-clustering or weak agglomeration, but the overall pattern is relatively stable. ④ By analyzing comprehensive level of urbanization hotspot index, a sheet hotspots in Jiayuguan City, and a massive cold spot area in Ganzhou, Liangzhou district, Mingle, Gulang county and Tianzhu autonomous county are formed. Spatial patterns of urbanization comprehensive level of hot and cold spot area are relatively stable in four periods, which exhibit high clusters value in Northwest and low clusters values in East and Middle South.(3)The development of county urbanization in Hexi Corridor is the result of natural and anthropogenic factors working together. Natural resources play a fundamental role in the urbanization process and the government plays an important role in guiding force, By using GWR model, analyzing the impact of various factors on the urbanization county shows that: Proportion of secondary industry output value, per capita GDP, per capita investment in property, the road network density and per capita water resources have a positive effect on urbanization and the urban population density have a negative effect. In different areas, all in all, every factor has totally different influence on urbanization, for example, water resources obviously limit the development of county urbanization in Hexi Corridor.
