Urbanization is the inevitable result of social and economic development, and urbanagglomeration is the highest spatial organization form during the urbanization develops to themature stage. Under the background of the national new urbanization planning, our countrypromote urbanization form in the body of the urban agglomeration. It is important to study theevolution of the expanding urban agglomeration pattern which could make us understand thefunctions of the urban agglomeration and coordinat the development of big and medium citiesand small towns.Shandong peninsula urban agglomerations is one of the most important urbanagglomerations along the east coasts of our country. There is also influential to the wholeshandong province and even the national key development area. Based on remote sensing andGIS technology, Obtaining urban agglomeration spatial data from2000to2013. Based on thewing automata (CA), simulation the expansion of urban agglomeration in2020. Analyzing thetemporal and spatial evolution of Shandong peninsula urban agglomeration spatial pattern withthe average annual extension rate,the expansion intensity, the indicators of clearance index,fractal dimension and spatial correlation index.And the results show that:(1) Urban construction land area of Shandong peninsula urban agglomerations has grownfrom246973.34hectares in2000to348876.33hectares in2006, expanding to502664.46hectares in2013, and it still expands130825.5hectares in2020by prediction. However, theextension rate of city is on the decline in2020. The extension rate of city was5.93%in2000-2006, and it dropped to5.36%in2006-2013, and dropped to3.36%in2013-2020. Theresults show that urban expansion speed has a trend of change slowly.(2) From the average extension rate,2000-2013, Zouping, Jinan, Qingdao, Dongying,Weifang and Rizhao is significantly greater than other cities, from the extension strength, During2000-2013, Qingdao, Yantai, Dongying, Weifang, Rizhao and Zouping of Shandong peninsulaurban agglomeration have greater extension strength than other cities. It suggests that it hassignificant urban space expansion along the Jiaoji railway and coastal urban belt during the period of2000-2013. From the point of clearance index, a global gap index decreases as thesliding window size, they reduce gradually in2000,2006and2013. It means the phenomenon ofscattered distribution of urban construction in Shandong peninsula urban agglomeration is moreand more obvious.The polarization effect of Jinan and Qingdao is weakening gradually.Urbanization becoming a multipole expansion pattern, and the urban expansion of heterogeneityis more and more weak. From the point of fractal dimension, the fractal dimension were1.124,1.337,1.414in2000,2006,2013, and it presents a increasing trend. It also shows that theshandong peninsula has a trend to extend regionally. And from the correlation coefficient, the Zvalue is low in2000-2006. The gap of G (d) and E (d) reduced significantly and the Z value fallfaster in2006-2013. It shows that the growth of urban space center for high value and lowconcentration polarization falling rapidly, and "Hot spot" and "cold spots" area present evolutionand migration on the spatial distribution. It presents an efficiency agree with the experimentalresults.(3) It predicts that by2020, the shandong peninsula urban agglomeration area of urbanconstruction land will increase quickly and urbanization develops obviously. The the area ofurban construction land will reach633489.93hectares and expansion of urbanization will befurther. The urbanization level will gradually deepened, but due to the expansion of research ineach town is gradually saturated, extension of urbanization rate will slowly fall back.(4) During2000-2013, the expansion of the Shandong peninsula urban agglomerations ismainly along the Jiaoji railway. It predicts during the period of2013-2020, it will form the "soil"glyph development which main shaft is Jinan-Zibo-Weifang-Qingdao (jiaoji railway), thesecondary axial shaft is Weihai-Yantai-Qingdao-Rizhao (coastal urban belt) and Dongying-Zibo. And it will gradually form three joint urban areas such as the joint city area of Jinan-Zibo-Weifang-Dongying, the joint city area of Qingdao-Rizhao and the joint city area of Yantaiand Weihai.
