Cultivated land is the base for human survival and human being’s economic activity. Henan province with the largest population in China, is the most important grain production base and the important link of ensuring national grain safety strategy. Currently, Henan faces with the problems, such as population, resources, environment and grain which are all related with cultivated land. Along with the development and establishment of Zhongyuan Economic Area and Zhengzhou Hangkonggang Area, the industrialization and urbanization develop rapidly, making construction land quantity in constant increase and land supply and demand in acute contradiction. Therefore, the improvement of land intensive use and utilization efficiency of cultivated land are directly related with the provincial and national grain safety and are conducive to realize sustainable development of agriculture, promote economic progress and maintain social stability.Currently, most of the researches of land intensive use focus on the urban, especially the coastal areas. Due to rapid economic development and growth of population, land use problems receive more and more attention by people. However, the researches of land intensive use in central region are not sufficient, especially Henan. Besides, most of the researches of land intensive use focus on the intensive current situation and intensive degree evaluation and seldom on the drive factor drive mechanical theory development and empirical analysis of cultivated land intensive level. This paper focus on the Henan cultivated land intensive use problem. It reviews the former scholars research effects by reading the literature both domestic and oversea, analyzes the hot point and key point. It also establishes the Henan cultivated land intensive use evaluation index system and calculates the cultivated land intensive use of 18 cities of Henan in 2000, 2005, 2010 and 2012 by using principal component analysis. It also analyzes the current problem existing in Henan cultivated land intensive use as well as analyzes the drive factor of cultivated land use of 18 cities in 2000 and 2012 by qualitative and quantitative methods and finds out the main drive factor that affect cultivated land intensive use. The conclusion is as follows:(1) From the 2000 to 2012, the cultivated land resource current situation, the agricultural acreage in Henan province waves largely, a slight increase on the whole. The agricultural acreage per capita appears decline. The basic condition of less agricultural acreage per capita and insufficient cultivated land resources do not change. It is essential to insist on the cultivated land protection system and cultivated land red line and grain safety line. From the correlation analysis, it can be concluded that the agricultural acreage of Henan are affected by policy factors, land development.(2) From 2000 to 2012, the cultivated land intensive use keeps the stable increase by the factors of government support and investment. According to the calculation results of 2000, 2005, 2010 and 2012 and due to different economic foundation and land resource, 18 cities have different cultivated land intensive use level. From the aspect of cultivated land intensive use level, the intensive type of north region is superior to south region and east region is superior to west region. The city with higher intensive use level is mostly located around Zhengzhou city. From the 2000 to 2012 cultivate land resource current situation, the cultivated land intensive use level is increased constantly.(3)By the ridge regression analysis, it calculates that the main drive factors of Henan cultivated land intensive use level are rural per capita net income, per capita GDP, the total power of agricultural machinery, the urbanization rate, the proportion of arable land, arable land per worker, the number of labor resources. Therefore, it is essential to improve Henan cultivated land intensive use level and to promote the stable increase of cultivated land intensive use by the above factors.
