Cultural Routes Heritage is a new concept in the field of international cultural heritage conservation, which mainly refers to the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of ethnic groups in the linear region with ensemble of special cultural resources. In recent years, the conservation of cultural routes heritage has attracted much attention. The Silk Road has been inscribed on the World Heritage List as a typical representative of the cultural routes heritage. The Maritime Routes of Dengzhou, a maritime cultural routes, is an important part of the Maritime Silk Road. It has become increasingly significant recently. The Maritime Routes of Dengzhou, as a joint name, refers to all maritime exits from every ports of Dengzhou and adjacent ports of Dengzhou. It contains all maritime exits from ancient ports in Shandong Peninsula, such as Dengzhou, Laizhou and Mizhou, to Northeast China, the Korean Peninsula and the Japanese archipelago. All these routes from a maritime road network which spreads all over the Northeast Asia, and play an important role of communication between ancient China and Northeast Asia. Today, there has already been a lot of works related to the Maritime Routes of Dengzhou made by researchers. But all researches about the Maritime Routes of Dengzhou in the history have a lack of systematic perspective. Therefore, this thesis illustrates systematically the road network of the Maritime Routes of Dengzhou by studying the historical changes of the Routes and its historical role in Northeast Asia. Finally, it explains the historical value of the Maritime Routes of Dengzhou from the perspective of Maritime Cultural Routes in order to call on more attention to the protection of the Maritime Routes of Dengzhou. The following four parts will show my opinions.The first part (Chapter 1) elaborates in detail the concept and connotation of the Maritime Routes of Dengzhou. It defines the concept of the Maritime Routes of Dengzhou by Jia Dan’s Maritime Routes of Dengzhou and other related historical materials. In addition, it explains the connotation of the Maritime Routes of Dengzhou from the perspective of Maritime Cultural Routes.The second part (Chapter 2,3) studies the Maritime Routes of Dengzhou from two aspects:space and time. The second chapter makes clear the exits of the Maritime Routes of Dengzhou in space and it shows clearly the road network in Northeast Asia. The third chapter discusses the historical changes of the Maritime Routes of Dengzhou and its reasons from the perspective of time. It reflects diachronically changes of the routes in each period of history.The third part (Chapter 4) discusses the cultural content of ancient Maritime Routes of Dengzhou and its impact on Northeast Asia. It mainly analyses the mutual exchanges between China and the Korean Peninsula, Japan, and the kingdom of Bohai and historic events from four aspects in each period, such as political exchanges, economic activities, cultural exchanges and demographics. All the materials show the important role of ancient Maritime Routes of Dengzhou in the communication in Northeast Asian.The fourth part (Chapter 5) outlines the status of heritage protection of the Maritime Routes of Dengzhou in China. By analysing the existing problems of heritage conservation, it puts forwards some suggestions. In order to call on more attention to the protection of the Maritime Routes of Dengzhou and related conservation of cultural heritage, it strives to make people realize that the Maritime Routes of Dengzhou is an important cultural routes heritage.The Maritime Routes of Dengzhou is the oldest and most important exit in ancient northern China. This thesis studies systematically the exits of the Maritime Routes of Dengzhou based on routes. In addition, it explores the value of the Maritime Routes of Dengzhou as a maritime cultural heritage and its significance of conservation from a new perspective-Cultural Routes. The research can provide maritime cultural researches with important supplement and offer the study and conservation of heritage routes elsewhere useful information and reference.
