The bilateral trade between C hina and the Countries along the Maritime Silk Road of the 21 st Century has grown rapidly, during the first 15 years in 21 st Century trade amount increased from US$ 96.671 billion to US$ 896.535 billion, with its percent rising from 12.73% to 20.08% compared to C hina's total foreign trade amount. This is already big amount and percent, however there is still great potential. At the same time, the Trade relations between C hina and the Countries along the Maritime Silk Road of the 21 st Century is very close, and will be much closer.Based on the theoretical basis of maritime transport capacity and international trade, this paper will analyze the development status of bilateral trade and maritime transport capacity between China and the Countries along the Maritime Silk Road of the 21 st Century. The analyze uses a number of indicators to study the maritime transport capacity, which include Port container throughput,Liner shipping connectivity index,Shipping trade openness and Comparative advantage index of maritime trade in services. With these indicators we would like to represent the level of maritime transport capacity partly.Based on the gravitational model and the characteristics of maritime transport capacity of the Countries along the Maritime Silk Road, this paper establishes a panel data model. The model analyzes the impact of maritime transport capacity on bilateral trade potential by using factors include economic growth, spatial distance, tariffs and free trade agreements, which can promote and restrict trade flows. The result shows that the maritime transport capacity index of the Countries along the Silk Road has positive affect on bilateral trade flows.By calculating the trade potential of bilateral trade simulations between China and the Countries along the Silk Road,it indicates there is still have potential to be developed. As the maritime transport capacity has a positive impact on bilateral trade flows,in order to improve the trade flows between China and the Countries along the Silk Road, more attention should be paid to enhancing the maritime facilitation level, improving maritime transport capacity, strengthening the management of shipping enterprises and building safe regional maritime environment.
