Study On The Growth Path And Development Strategy Of Small Towns In The Guanzhong Region

The critical challenge of China’s urbanization and modernization is in rural areas. It is obvious that there will not be real modernization in China without rural modernization.That should be a breakthrough point to promote the healthy development of small towns, realizing China’s urbanization and modernization. Since The 18 th National Congress of Communist Party of China, new urbanization proposed “to strengthen the medium and small cities and small towns industry development, public service, absorbing employment, population agglomeration function; to build scientific and reasonable urban pattern; to scientifically layout large cities, medium cities, small cities, small towns and urban agglomerations” and other major decisions. These have opened up new opportunities and broad space for the development of small towns. However, the present small towns in China are confronting large amount of problems. They are unable to attract people to work and live in, thus unable to provide appropriate hub function in human settlement network. In this context, it’s particularly urgent and necessary to accelerate the growth of small towns, improve the radial force and cohesion of small towns and strengthen the ability of small towns to absorb agricultural transferring population.The theory of this paper to the point, studied on the theory and construction practice related growth of small towns at home and abroad, and analysis, the construction of this theoretical framework.On the basis of theoretical research, Combining the development present situation of small towns in the Guanzhong area. Emphatically, setting out from the dimension of the historical development of small towns, discussing the historical evolution of small towns in detail, to reveals the basic law of small towns growth at all times and in all over the world in general.Then discusse the growth mechanism of small towns. Combining the development situation and types of small towns in Guanzhong region. On the basis of understanding deeply small towns growth regularity and mechanism, summed up the spatial growth characteristic of small towns in Guanzhong region. Finally, two small towns in th Guanzhong region as examples, from three aspects: industry, population and space path for the growth of small towns and the development strategy for analysis.
