Research On The Effect Of Intellectual Property Protection On Composition Of Export Trade

Nowadays, in the knowledge economy era of international trade situation, intellectual property protection as a new means of trade competition, has been gradually replaced trade barriers to become one of the most effective means of trade protection. If our country want to get export trade competitive advantages in the international scope and develop “Big Trading Nation” to “Powerful Trading Nation”, we must rise the manufactured products and high-tech products of capital-intensive, technology-intensive and knowledge-intensive to the main export products, optimizing the composition of export trade. Composition of trade is an important index about foreign trade, reflecting the country’s comparative advantage, industrialized and the position in the international division of labor. The importance of optimizing the composition of export trade is self-evident.The protection of intellectual property is the most important measure of protecting intellectual property, influencing greatly on a country’s composition of export trade. Intellectual property protection impact on a country’s composition of export trade mainly by technology innovation and FDI. Our country’s composition of export trade product is still not ideal. Although the manufactured goods have accounted for absolute leading position in China’s overall exports, manufactured goods exported are mainly labor-intensive and resource-intensive products. Optimizing the composition of export trade in our country is urgent.On the basis of predecessors’ research, this paper puts forward the measure method of intellectual property protection and composition of the export trade, expounding the effect mechanism of intellectual property protection on the composition of export trade. Then, using classical regression analysis method for multi-regression, we empirically research the effect of intellectual property protection on composition of export trade. The empirical results show that increasing the level of intellectual property protection is conducive to China’s composition of export trade optimization; Finally, according to the empirical results and the present situation of intellectual property protection and trade composition, this paper puts forward to countermeasures and suggestions for improving our intellectual property protection system and optimizing composition of export trade in our country.
