Farmland abandonment in rural area is a common and real problem during China’s urbanization and economy transition. Farmland abandonment leads to inadequate land use and the enormous waste of the limited land. In this paper, I use logistic model to analyze the general reason of land abandonment, and selecting a case for empirical research, obtained the general causes of land abandonment and related measures, and compare the Guangzhou city from the mountain land abandonment particularity is studiedLand abandoned is the result of famers’ rational choice under the constraint of our farmland institution. Because the characteristics of our rural land system exists the land property rights is not sufficient, the average distribution mode, China’s rural land scale is small, the input in farmland is insufficient. Affected by famers’ localism and the land is the living security when the famers withdraw from the city. Famers are always reluctant to give up the rigthts to control and manage the land, and the behavior which neither give up the rights nor farming leads to the land abandoned. Although land abandoned may promote the adjustment of the rural land system, the phenomenon has a negative meaning to the healthy development of the national economy, therefore we must governance the land abandoned.Based on the Empirical analysis and content of the field investigation, this paper proposes the relevant solving measures. This paper puts forward practice moderate scale family farm mode. Via the legitimate exchange of the rural land, we can promote the rural land concentrate to the large grain. In this way, we can improve the efficiency of agricultural production and promote the rural population transfer to the city. At the same time, the government strengthen the investment on the governance of farmland, targeted support for agricultural production, reduce the risks of agricultural production and mobilize the enthusiasm of farmers.
