The study found that:(1) The performance characteristics of socio-spatial differentiation in Yaotang community lie in residential space, occupation and income structure, social interaction and emotion space four aspects.(2)The evolution process of socio-spatial differentiation in Yaotang community has undergone four stages. The first phase was about 1980 and early when Social space structure highly homogeneous. The second one lasted from 1980 to 1998 during which economic structure has differentiation. The third phase was from 1998 to 2010 during which residential space differentiation appeared for the first time. Then from 2010 to 2014, the residential space differentiation came the second time.(3) The unbalancing of power structure and the concentration of elite power is the root cause of socio-spatial differentiation in Yaotang community.(4)The influence of socio-spatial differentiation in Yaotang consist of space fragmentation, social isolation and etc.(5) It is proposed that strengthening the guidance for the elite and conducting rational planning of rural community are supposed to be adopted to ease the socio-spatial differentiation in Yaotang community.
