Study On The Relationship Between Conflicts Perception And Participation Wiliness From The Perspective Of Community Residents

Since the 1990 s, the sustainable development of tourism was put forward and gradually attracted more attention. To achieve the goal of harmonious and sustainable development of tourism, the tourism community’s supportive attitude and behavior is indispensable. In the early, a series of studies on tourism influence perception-attitude-behavior focus more on tourists. And then with the deepening of research, related research results show that the tourism impact perception, attitude and behavior of tourism community’s residents also play a key role in the sustainable development of tourism. Therefore, understanding the tourism impact perception and attitude of the residents and promoting their participation in tourism development are the important premise and key steps to realize the harmonious and sustainable tourism. This thesis selected Xiao Zhou village located in Guangzhou City as the study case. Based on the integrated use of stakeholder theory, social conflict theory and social exchange theory, this study mainly concentrates on two subjects: one is tourism conflict perception of the original residents, and the other is the correlation between the conflict perception and participation wiliness. Research conclusions are as follows:(1) With the assistance of qualitative research methods including in-depth interviews and text analysis and quantitative research methods of questionnaire survey and factor analysis, the conclusion is drawn that the community residents’ perception of tourism conflict in Xiao Zhou village include five dimensions: economic interest conflict, living environment deterioration, community service missing, lifestyle conflict and ideological conflict. According to social conflict theory of Coser, the economic interest conflict, the living environment deterioration and community service missing belong to physical conflicts. Lifestyle conflict and ideological conflict belong to non-physical conflicts.(2) The community residents’ conflict perception and participation wiliness have significant negative correlation.(3) The correlation between community residents’ perception of physical conflicts and participation wiliness is stronger than the correlation between community residents’ perception of the non-physical conflict and participation wiliness. According to the research conclusions, management propositions for tourism community conflicts in Xiao Zhou village are put forward. Particularly, by taking consideration of the different characters of perceived conflicts in various stages, targeted policies are supposed to be made in order to guide the community residents’ participation behavior. Only by doing that can Xiao Zhou village achieve harmonious and sustainable development in the future.
