Communication Management In International Petrochemical Project Under PMC Mode

PMC (Project Management Contractor), which is on behalf of the owner or as the representative of owner and is a new type of project management. In nowadays, PMC used more and more widely in engineering projects, especially in large-scale international projects. International project, that is, all participate parties comes from different countries with different culture background, project experiences, working style and habits, which manage in international practice. Thereof, the communication among all participations will directly impact working performance efficiency.This thesis set that communication management in international petrochemical project under PMC mode as the object to study, thereafter to do further discussion in order to improve communication management in international project. Main works as follows:After reviewing literature of PMC management mode and communication management to summarize and analysis, it comes up to a conclusion that the study of communication management under PMC mode in international petrochemical project has certain significance in both theory and practice. Then it starts the point of view from characteristics of international project and the effect of PMC mode to it, additionally, combined with practical project case, to point out the current situation in international project under PMC mode. Based on status described, to do interview with experienced professionals in this industry and further discuss the influence factors. With communication features, classify the results of interview, including communication mode, communication atmosphere, communication frequency and communication feedback. Afterwards, do questionnaire survey among professional people who has took part in such kind of project with different experiences and from different departments. In regarding the data collected from survey, to set up a mathematical model to do quantitatively analysis with using fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method. Therefore, could know how strength about four communication factors in actual project practice. Then come up to the detailed corresponding improved measures.To sum up, through summarize existing communication problems described in this thesis, incorporate exiting theory, to come up some improvement measures, then through applying in Africa petrochemical project, to provide a useful reference for similar projects as well in the future.
