Earned Value Management Application And Research In Chemical Project Management

As project management team, one of their most important works is making dynamic accurate schedule and cost forecast of project, Earned value management is a systematic method to make scheduling and cost estimation of project at completion (EAC). As an advanced project management approach, it has been successfully applied in many international engineering projects, In china, despite Some enterprises started to implement of earned value management system, but still very few successful cases available in chemical project management, based on this situation, to promote the application of earned value management in chemical project management, the author has summarized and analyzed all the available theories related to earned value management, introduced the general work steps and procedures of the application, Meanwhile, through the practical project of Bayer Group in shanghai chemical industry park, the article has verified the feasibility of EVM in chemical project management. At the same time, the article analyzed the problems found during project practical management and provided modifier formulas by adding earned quality value and earned safety value index into traditional EVM system, lastly, briefly discussed the integrated earned value management system and the possibility of applying the EVM in the field other than scheduling and cost management. Through the research and analysis on this subject, the author reached the following conclusions:1. The EVM is applicable to chemical project management,2. Problems exist in applying traditional EVM method into chemical project management, but these problems can be solved by adding quality and safety analysis index3. Updated EVM method can realize more accurate scheduling and cost forecast, it is possible to apply the EVM system for management of areas other than scheduling and cost.
