Research On The Relationship Between Shareholding Structure And Carbon Disclosure

According to the research made by America National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the global warming become worse and worse. Especially, the last year is the hottest year in the nearly 130 years. All the countries in the world begin to have a focus on reducing greenhouse gas emission. In China, Chongqing carbon emission exchange market officially launched in June 19,2014. It means that china carbon emissions trading pilot project, including Beijing and Tianjin and so on, carried out comprehensively. The exploration of our government means that the government begins to pay attention to solving the environmental problems and reducing carbon emission. And the supervision of the administration about carbon emission will be stricter. So companies’stress will be heavier to reduce carbon emission and disclosure information. What’s more, the research about carbon disclosure become more and moreMy research is about the relationship between the shareholding structure and carbon disclosure. This paper selects the 100 companies in the social responsibility index of the Shanghai stock exchange as samples. On the basis of the literature summary and theory analysis, we make a present situation research in two aspects of Carbon Disclosure Project’s questionnaires and corporations’social responsibility reports. Then we proposed the carbon disclosure index for empirical research. And the empirical results show that there are positive and significant relationships between the degree of ownership concentration、the management shareholding、the shares of institutional investors and the carbon disclosure index; there is a negative and significant relationship between the state-owned shares and the carbon disclosure index. At last, based on the front studies, this paper puts forward the conclusion and some suggestions about improving carbon disclosure.
