The Research On Measuring Carbon Dioxide Emission And Carbon Mitigation Measures Of Tourism

Climate change has caused widespread concern around the world, after the Copenhagen climate conference, it becomes more and more popular, in order to respond to climate change actively, energy-saving and emission-reduction are called out. China has proposed that the CO2 emissions per unit of GDP in 2012 dropped 40%-45% than in 2005, how to save energy effectively and develop low carbon tourism is becoming a hot topic. Based on low carbon economy theory, circular economy theory and tourism system theory, the paper studied some contents about the carbon emission reduction in China’s tourism through investigation, literature review, qualitative and quantitative method. It can not only provide some scientific basis on tourism’s energy-saving and emission-reduction, but also provide some academic reference value for the related research in China.Firstly, based on the analysis of the situation and characteristics about our tourism’s carbon emissions, the paper discussed that the main influential factors on tourism carbon emission measurement, and defined the range of tourism carbon emission system: the amount of carbon dioxide emission in tourism traffic, tourism accommodation industry, tourism activities, tourism catering sector. Then, it constructed the measurement model on the four departments, taking the Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone as a case study. From the horizontal(tourism departments) and longitudinal(different regions) aspects, obtained the following conclusions:(1) the tourism carbon emissions of Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone is 2001600 tons in 2012,tourism traffic is 1146000 tons, tourism accommodation industry is 626800 tons, tourism activities is 133700 tons, tourism catering sector is 95100 tons;(2) the tourist traffic is the main source of carbon emissions, it accounts for 57.25% of all carbon emissions, and the highway accounts for 49.1% of the tourist traffic carbon emissions, it is the main direction of tourism carbon emission reduction;(3) Jiu Jiang city, Nan Chang city, Ji’an city, Shang Rao city account for 65.15% of all tourism carbon emission in Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone, nearly 70% of all regions, tourism carbon potential; On this basis, the paper put forward five policy recommendations to develop low carbon tourism in Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone: accelerating low-carbon tourism related laws, promoting the carbon tax system, establishing the low carbon tourism demonstration zone management norms, increasing policy support and creating a low carbon city zone; Finally, on the base of energy saving and emission reduction of national tourism, the paper analyzed the significance and advantage of China’s tourism industry to implement carbon emission reduction, from the macro level(government), middle-level(tourism enterprises and tourism scenic spots) and micro level(tourist),the paper put forward some countermeasures for the tourism industry to achieve the target.
