A Study On The Relationship Among Community Workers’ Work Values,Job Satisfaction And Work Performance

Objective: The study is aimed to examine the performance of community workers, explore the relationship among community workers’ work values, job satisfaction and job performance, and test the mediating effect of job satisfaction on work values and job performance.Method: 300 community workers in Chang Sha, YueYang, A Ke su and other places were assessed with Work Values Scale, Job Satisfaction Scale and Job Performance Scale.Results:(1)The average score of interpersonal promotion was highest(M=19.54), next was work dedication(M=19.39), and task performance was lowest(M=19.22);(2)There was no significant difference between male and female community workers in all dimensions of job performance; community workers in different age had significant difference in job performance and its dimensions; and community workers married were apparently higher than those who were unmarried in the scores of job performance and its dimensions; there was no prominent difference between community workers in different degree on task performance, but in the scores of work dedication, interpersonal promotion and overall job performance, community workers who got bachelor degree were lower than those who got college degree and below; community workers in different positions had significant difference in job performance and its dimensions as well;(3)Correlation analysis showed that all dimensions of work values had significant positive correlations with all dimensions of job satisfaction; all dimensions of job satisfaction had significant positive correlations with all dimensions of job performance too; small pressure, intrinsic values, social status and extrinsic values had significant positive correlations with all dimensions of job performance; as for others, there were no significant positive correlations;(4) Job satisfaction partially played mediating effect on the influence of work values on job performance.Conclusions:(1)Community workers’ job performance belong to the medium level;(2) The job performance of male and female community worker were roughly equal, but due to the difference in age, marital status, education and position, the job performance of community workers were significantly different;(3) work values was closely related to job satisfaction, in particular, the value orientation of small pressure, social status was closely related to job performance;(4)job satisfaction was closely related to job performance, and the more satisfaction with interpersonal relationships and management system, the higher job performance will get.(5) At last, not only can work values directly affect job performance, but also can affect job performance by job satisfaction.
