With the advancement of globalization and growing importance of international cooperation China’s “One Belt and One Road” initiative has become a crucial point of country’s politics domestically and internationally “One Belt and One Road” strategic cooperation plan engage all the concerned countries in a strong multilateral collaboration in the field of political relationships and particularly economy and trade exchange.Since opening to foreign markets in 1991 followed by establishment of new government in 1993 Cambodia has been attracting foreign investments, which played a big role in revitalization of country’s economy. Cambodia sustained the economic growth up to the year 2004 when it joined the World Trade Organization. Owing to 7% GDP growing rate between 2010 and 2015 Cambodia is becoming one of East Asia’s most popular foreign investments destination; the biggest investor being china, followed by the United State, Europe, Japan, South Korea and numerous other countries.The amicable relationship and mutual economical exchange between China and Cambodia has long history reaching before the era of Angkor. This friendly relationship put ground for expansion and tightening of the economical bond. In 2013 China’s “reaching out” strategy put forward the “One Belt and One Road” initiative looking for business opportunities and strengthening the import/export bond with concerned counties; including the association of south-east Asian nation(ASEAN), east, central and west Asia, and central-eastern European countries.This dissertation presents “One Belt and One Road” multilateral cooperation strategy bringing forward new opportunities along with new challenges. The paper will summarize the main points of “One Belt and One Road” plan and the economic conditions for foreign investment expansion in Cambodia, highlighting country’s long time ties with China, The final point of the dissertation is the presentation and analysis of Cambodia’s Sihanouk Ville port economic zone development strategy aiming to promote the bilateral economic and trade cooperation that contributes to a healthy development of both countries.
