At present, with the rapid development of science and technology, new job positions are continuously generated and differentiated. The requirements and needed skills for those job positions are constantly changing, which requires that the training of skilled personnel must closely follows the actual needs and changes of manufacture and management. Thus, the cultivation of applicable talents is one of the measurement criteria for higher vocational education. First of all, this dissertation gives an brief overview of models of training talents for China’s agricultural mechanization. Along with the development of economy and society, there was an increasing demand for highly skilled personnel, then the higher vocational education emerged under this background. The goal of agricultural mechanization education is to build a talented team of personnel with the ability to adapt to the development of agricultural economy, strong technical capabilities, high level of knowledge. The accomplishment of this goal includes three major aspects, knowledge requirements, ability requirements and quality requirements. Secondly, the current situation of training talents for agricultural mechanization in Hunan Province were analyzed. Although the education for agricultural mechanization develops rapidly, it is still divorced from reality in terms of professional settings, guiding ideology, and some institutions for agricultural mechanization think little of the requirements for the economic and social development in rural areas, which results in a low level of providing service to the development of rural economy and society. The inadequate government investments in the education for agricultural mechanization also restrict the development of agricultural mechanization education. Moreover, this dissertation conducted the investigation and analysis of the intentions for personnel training of agricultural mechanization. The assessments of curriculums and practices inside and outside of institutes for agricultural mechanization by trained personnelcan on the one hand reflect what gaps still exist in the areas of basic education and which directions the effort should be made; on the other hand reflect the independent development of talents for agricultural mechanization is not efficient, and there are urgent needs to enhance their capacity for independent development. On these basis, the advanced experiences of foreign countries were introduced and summarized in this dissertation. Finally, the strategies for personnel training to promote agricultural mechanization were considered and explored. The suggested strategies include:the trainings should be based on industry trends; the discipline setup should be combined with the characteristics of regional agricultural development; The manpower, material and financial resources should be concentrated on developing the disciplines with advantages; the institutes should enhance the communication of information about industrialization of agriculture with related leading enterprises and industry associations. All these strategies can strengthen the experiences of the students on enterprises internship training for agricultural industrialization in the practical base, so that the level of students’-innovative ability and technology can be constantly improved in the process of agricultural industrial restructuring and upgrading, and eventually improve the effectiveness of training models.
