Logistics Service Innovation, Service Quality Impact On The Performance Of Supply Chain Cooperation

With logistics being the artery system and also an important role of the service economy, to a great extent, the development of logistics industry represents a country’s service industry development level and modernization degree. China’s modern logistics industry has been improved as national economy has grown in a high speed, playing a more and more important role in the national economic system, especially in service industry. And under the circumstances that our country’s economic growth pattern keeps transforming and upgrading, especially under the practice of "Internet+" Policy and the further implementation of E-commerce Policy, logistics is taking up a greater mission.With the coming of the 21st century, China’s logistics industry has seen the great performance of explosive growth and huge economic output at a heavy cost. A series of such problems became the short boards hindering the development of logistics industry in our country and resulting in the bad performance of operation in the industry and cooperation with supply chain partners. Under the pressure from both the decline of the economy and the demand to upgrade the industry, logistics industry has to break through traditional operating pattern and innovate a new model of developing. In the current, innovation has become an important strategic choice for national economic and social development. Enhancing the independent innovation ability of enterprises and promoting enterprise’s core competitiveness are ways to break through the bottleneck of China’s logistics enterprises development.Existing research results show that the internal innovation and promotion in aspects like operation model of traditional logistics enterprises will make significant contribution to the improvement of enterprise performance. And from the perspective of supply chain collaboration, as a key point of economic activities, especially in the whole supply chain system, service innovation of logistics enterprises will greatly influence the composite effect of the whole supply chain system and service economy.According to this, we made a further assumption that whether there is a connection between logistics service innovation, service quality and cooperation performance within supply chain, and how this connection works. By further research and collection of related literature theory, this article constructs a model of logistics service innovation, service quality and cooperation performance within supply chain and puts forward a series of hypotheses. Based on a sample of research of typical logistics enterprises in Liaoning Province, this article analyzes the data collected through in-depth field interview and questionnaires investigation, and verifies logistics service innovation’s impact on cooperation performance and the mediating role of logistics service quality.Through researching, following conclusions has been worked out:(1) The logistics service innovation has a significant positive influence on logistics service quality, especially on characteristics like reliability, responsiveness and economics. (2) The logistics service innovation shows great positive effects on supply chain performance. In other words, the higher the level of logistics service innovation is, the better the cooperation between logistics enterprises and the supply chain partners performs. (3) There is a strong positive relationship between logistics service quality and cooperation performance within supply chain, the reliability and also the economic efficiency of the logistics service. (4) Logistics service quality plays a mediating role on logistics service innovation and cooperation performance within supply chain. The quality of logistics service has partial intermediary effect on both reliability and economics, and mediation strength of economics dimensions is higher than the reliability dimension.Two main innovations of this article are as follows:By setting the logistics service innovation as the starting point and the supply chain collaboration performance as the foothold, this article introduces the service innovation into the supply chain field, studies its influence on the cooperation performance within supply chain and the implementation model, and establishes a theoretical relationship between the two areas. Meanwhile, the article enriches the content of theory of service innovation and enterprise performance. (2) Previously, studies of enterprise performance mainly focus on the measurement and assessment of the quantifiable performance index such as financial performance, activity-based performance and operating performance. This article, however, from the perspective of supply chain collaboration, researches the cooperation performance between logistics enterprises and supply chain partners, exploring the influence which logistics service innovation has on supply chain cooperation and the approach to accomplish it.
