With the further development of the reform in china, it constantly benefits the rural areas. Meanwhile with the advancement of urbanization and industrialization, which reflects the speed and quality, it imposes enormous pressure to the cultivated land protection, and then gradually forms the contradiction of the rural idle homestead and the increased urban construction land demand. Therefore, in order to alleviate the pressure of cultivated land protection and to promote the development of urban construction, the implementation of exit policy for rural homestead will be particularly necessary. However, from the view of the academic research on this field, the research on the rural homestead exit intention of farmers, which would contribute to implement the above-mentioned policy, is still not enough. Regarding the actual situation of rural homestead exit, the compensation mechanism of rural homestead exit should be further improved. Thus, from the farmer’s perspective, the research on the compensation issue of rural homestead exit would be of great practical significance.Taking Hechuan district, Chongqing city as survey area, based on questionnaire survey to gather related data of sample area, individual, cognition and intention, and by using the basic statistical method and multiple response analysis, this paper analyze the farmer’s compensation intention of rural homestead exit, and make some relevant suggestions. The main conclusions are as follows:(1) The compensation of rural homestead exit is implemented according to the relevant documents in Hechuan district, Chongqing city, which is mainly including monetary compensation and housing resettlement compensation. The compensation form is far less diversified; other auxiliary compensation is seldom used, and effective compensation system to make sustainable security for farmers is not established.(2) In addition to monetary compensation and material compensation demand, affordable compensation intention and developmental compensation intention for the farmers of rural homestead exit is extremely strong. The data shows:the farmers, who hope to get endowment insurance and medical insurance after homestead exit, respectively account for 65.63% and 63.28%, and the farmers, who hope to get some certain job help and to obtain employment skill or education training, respectively account for 44.53% and 48.44%. In addition, referring to the compensation standard,68.75% of the farmers think in the compensation of more than 120000 per mu should be more reasonable, which would be 25% higher than the current standard of 96000 per mu. Therefore, the compensation standard and compensation form should be constantly improved, which will require to pay more attention to the farmer pension, medical issue and employment problem, and to provide affordable compensation and developmental compensation.(3) There are some farmers who think highly of housing endowment effect of rural homestead, such as:farmers living in poor location, the female, the middle-aged, the less educated, farmers with higher proportion of agricultural income and lower household income, farmers with fewer and smaller rural homestead, farmers with the view that the individual has the property right and the nation should not take back rural homestead, farmers without related professional training and certificate and someone without plans to move to town. For the above-mentioned farmers, their compensation intention is mainly focused on obtaining the affordable compensation, including:the basic endowment insurance and basic medical insurance. While the compensation intention on the non-agricultural employment and skill training is very strong among the male, the young, high educational level of farmer. Farmers’compensation intention of rural homestead exit will be affected by different factors. It suggests that policy makers can adjust measures to local conditions, and take same targeted and differentiated compensation measures so as to meet the actual need of farmers, and to solve the trouble in the future.(4) We should establish and improve the exit compensation mechanism of rural homestead, establish pension and medical insurance in urban and rural areas as a whole, strengthen the rural social security, provide more employment opportunities and assistance measures, and carry out a comprehensive public training and vocational skills training. Therefore, establishing the differential compensation mode and forming an effective sustainable rural homestead exit compensation system would be of particular importance.
