Inventory management is an important component part of supply chain m anagement. If an enterprise has an excellent inventory management level, it not only can improve the performance of the supply chain, also can reduce the operating cost. Nowadays the global m arketing is becom ing complex and full of uncertain. Under such environment, many enterprises appear all kinds of inventory m anagement problems; it means that the inve ntory management problems will becom e more and m ore complicated. Since the theory of supply chain management was put forward, the theory of traditional inventory control is facing the severe ch allenge. The traditional inventory control m ethod concentrates on individual com pany’s inventory optimization. Some conflicts always can’t be solved. The inventory m anagement in supply chain is based on the stock which is in the whole supply chain planning, coordination, organization and control, to control the m inimum inventory in each stage that can cut costs, reduce the resource waste and achieve a balance. Inventory management not only t impact on the supply chain of an enterprise, also affect the enterprise operating costs. So if yo u want to o ptimize supply chain management, improve the level of inventory management is a key factor. Companies should set out from their own situation, find a suitable inventory m anagement model based on the supply chain management, in order to decrease the inventory costs. Therefore how to find a good model to improve competitiveness and earning power of a company is so urgent.The thesis based on the supply chain management and the inventory m anagement under environment of supply chain theory as the basis, it takes SKMC as its research object. The author colle cted a lot o f data and illum inated the problem s. Then the author analyzed th e causes of inv entory management objectively and particularly. Consequently, some schemes for improving the inventory management were designed: First design VMI inventory management mode. Improve delivery speed and accuracy, so that the inventory can maintain optimization and achieve win-win. Second design inventory internal control. Enhance invent ory internal control, thus im prove stock turnover ratio. Finally design intelligent i nventory management system. Promote the MRP system and EDI inform ation flow, reduce the chance of manual error, so that the data in ERP system is m ore accurate, more timely. At last, in order to implement the project perfectly, the author ensures sufficient argumentation from all aspects, such as staff and organization, capital, te chnology and regulation, to complete the design of the project.In this thesis, author collect and analy ze the inventory data of SKMC a nd combine with the diagram, design an inventory im proving scheme which suitable for SKMC. Author also gives the full consideration of supporting measure. This scheme not only can weaken bullwhip effect, reduce com pany’s stock, but also can improve the company’s inventory turnover, greatly save the operating costs. This project can bring many benefits for SKMC and improve company’s competitiveness largely.
