Since the entering of the 21st century, the rapid growth of the global population, climate diversity of environment change, increasing scarcity of soil and other natural resources and rapid development of bio energy industry, lead to the supply and demand contradictions are increasingly prominent, international grain prices also maintained a rising trend. The possibility of a global food crisis is highlighted. Under the condition of the global food crisis,agricultural land resources become global strategic resources, some food importing countries began to use overseas cultivated land, cultivated land investment ensure national food security. as the largest developing country in the world and per capita cultivated land resources shortage in, China obviously cannot stay aloof.This paper is divided into five parts, the first part briefly describes the situation on the topics related to the field of research background at home and abroad and the theory of international trade, among the theory, food security theory, theory on security and allocation of cultivated land resources and theories of FDI are given the top priority to analyze foreign overseas cultivated land investment activities; The second part describes the current situation of the overseas land investments, mainly introduces the overseas cultivated land investment activities since the food crisis, and studies the distribution of the main cultivated land in the host country in the way of analyzing the data; The third part mainly are practical examples of current overseas cultivated land investment activity in the world, demonstrating the overseas cultivated land activities are necessary and feasible under the premise of ensuring food security and cultivated land safety; The fourth part using SPSS software to make an empirical analysis of the overseas investment data; The last part of the paper mainly are the study of the food security situation in China and necessity of overseas cultivated land investment, finally some pertinent suggestions are given out from the level of nation and enterprises to make smooth overseas cultivated land investment activities.
