The Relationship Between The Scale Of Vocational Education And The Level Of Urbanization In Jiangsu Province

As a strong province in economy of coastal areas, Jiangsu’s urbanization process is very rapid. It is one of the province whose urbanization level rises fast. Large population moved from rural to urban areas. Under the impetus of urbanization, Jiangsu’s vocational education development get a good environment, which made the scale and quality of vocational education increased sharply. In order to adapt to the adjustment of industrial structure and promote the transformation and development of the economy in Jiangsu province, vocational education has undertaken an important role unprecedentedly for cultivating corresponding skilled and applied talents, improving the structure of employment, and promoting the construction of spiritual civilization. Therefore, recognizing the stage and the law of urbanization of Jiangsu province scientifically and objectively and the relationships between vocational education is significant for sustainable economic development and urbanization.This paper based on basic theories in combination with the situation of Jiangsu province, then constructed the comprehensive evaluation index system. This research dealt with the datum from 1990-2013 of Jiangsu province by SPSS statistical software using factor analysis evaluated the comprehensive level of urbanization in Jiangsu province. Then research made co-integration analysis and Granger causality test through EVIEWS software to find out the relationships between vocational education and urbanization of Jiangsu province. Results shows that urbanization rate and the comprehensive level of urbanization is the rising, but only the higher vocational education was proved to promote the urbanization process. Secondary vocational education does not interactive well with urbanization of Jiangsu province, elementary vocational education scale is small but shrinking fast, and the structure of vocational education should be adjusted.The analysis found that, in the process of urbanization in Jiangsu province, there are certain problems in government,school and students. The vocational education develops unevenly, vocational education system is not finished, the subsequent security mechanism is relatively backward, and major, curriculum and teaching methods are not adapted, leading to students’ low learning enthusiasm. Besides, students’ learning foundation is poor that makes the low quality of graduates.So, Jiangsu’s vocational education can’t play a full role in promoting economic development and urbanization. Therefore, this paper finally puts forward some suggestions.Strengthening the cooperation, innovating system of vocational education, actively encouraging vocational education to create characteristic brands, improving the digital information technology teaching means to promote the curriculum system construction, focusing on teachers’ team construction, and also need to increase the students’ ideological education work.
