Under the current big environment of economic globalization, the market competition is becoming increasingly fierce, the human cost is getting higher and higher, and the profit is getting smaller and smaller. It can be said that "low profit era" is coming. How to improve the profit level of enterprises is an important issue which is worthy of further study by modern enterprises. In the current "low profit era", the competitive advantage of enterprises comprehensively reflected by competitive low cost and the ability to meet the diversified and personalized needs of various customers. This thus raises a higher requirement to the manufacturing mode of enterprises, and it also brings challenges and opportunities to enterprises in utilizing the lean production management theory by combining its own characteristics to accommodate the current competitive market.This article first of all analyzes the market background of M Company’s customized products, and then it elaborates the significance of implementing lean management to the production of such kind of products. In addition, it studies the development status of lean thinking both abroad and domestic and puts forward the research purpose and the used technical route. And then through this article we learn relevant theories and technology systems of lean production management, which mainly includes the key technologies and the core principle of lean production management, and relevant theories and methods in industrial engineering. Through the study and research on theories related to lean production management, the status quo of all the links in the manufacturing process are analyzed by considering the current situation and production characteristics of M Company’s customized products. Via the analysis, problems are found in the manufacturing process of such products, including backward production mode, unreasonable layout of production site, single skill of production personnel, low level of product standardization, low automation degree of production tools, and unbalanced production load and so on. In view of the above problems, this article presents a detailed scheme for implementing lean production management throughout the manufacturing process of M Company’s customized products after making research on the feasibility of it. This detailed scheme is to improve the just-in-time production of all the links in the manufacturing process of M Company’s customized products, eliminate the waste links and no-value-added activities in manufacturing process so as to shorten the production cycle, increase the production efficiency of customized products, reduce the production cost fundamentally and enhance the competitiveness of M Company in the market of like products in the industry, and finally achieve the purpose of promoting the profitability of the Company through using advanced lean management tools and optimized production site layout, the training of multi-skilled personnel, establishment of product standardization, improvement of automation degree of production tools, optimization of production process, and balancing of production load and so on. Finally, this article evaluates the effect of the implementation of lean production management by using the analytic hierarchy process and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method.
