With Since from the reform and opening, the private economy is booming, which has made tremendous contribution to China’s economic stability and growth. In recent years, state support also allows private enterprise standing at a new starting point, but poor performance management has been a common problem constraining sustainable development of private enterprise. Therefore, performance management study for private enterprise has important significance on enhancing their competitiveness. This paper stands on the people-oriented concept and gives full play to the valuable resources--people to improve performance management, it will have important implications for long-term development of private enterprise.Company X is a regional private enterprise, mainly produces various oil seals and rubber products. In order to enhance the internal and external competitiveness, company X implemented a series of reforming measures, but didn’t achieve effective improvement. To some extend, it has constrained development of company X.Under background of modern human resources management concept, by referring to relevant literatures, collecting questionnaires and doing interviews on spot, this paper analysises current status and weak points of company X in performance management. Lacking of cognization for performance management and communication & feedback mechanisms, without scientific performance management system, unreasonable performance appraisal method and insufficient performance improvement issues, all the problems lead to poor performance of company X in performance management. To solve these problems, this paper proposes performance management guidelines and principles for company X, builds a people-oriented performance management platform and finishes concerned contend & system establishment. It will be a realistic and sustainable performance management model for company X.This study is not only to improve and solve the performance management problems of company X, but also provides a reference case for other private enterprises, which has certain theoretical and practical significance.
