Research On The Ecological Efficiency Of The Green Transportation In Beijing Based On The Ecological Footprint Method

In recent years, the urban traffic problem becomes one of the three major urban problems in our country. Beijing as the capital of our country, attracts a large number of population from other areas. The numerous population flowing to the city poses serious traffic problems.Though establishing a modified model of ecological footprint, this paper analyzed and evaluated the green transportation ecological footprint and ecological efficiency in Beijing, and found the green transportation have positive effects on improving the traffic efficiency and reducing the traffic pollution. Then combining with the current traffic situation in Beijing, this paper pointed out that to vigorously develop the green transportation is the key to solve the traffic problem, and put forward some measures to promoting green transportation.Firstly, this paper introduced the concept of green transportation and the ecological footprint theory. They mainly include: concept, essence and characteristics of green traffic; ecological footprint concept and the general calculation model of ecological footprint. This laid a solid theoretical basis for the follow-up study of the transportation ecological footprint and ecological efficiency.Secondly, this paper analyzed the current situation of the green traffic development in Beijing, concluded the traffic problem from four aspects, economy, society, ecological environment, and imbalance between supply and demand.Then this essay found the fundamental causes of the traffic problem, and pointed out the green traffic is the way to solve the problem.Thirdly, this paper established a improving traffic ecological footprint. The model includes four accounts: the construction land account, the forest land account, the fossil energy account and the water resource account. As compared with private cars, this paper used the model to analyze the ecological footprint and ecological efficiency of the green transportation. The results showed that the ecological footprint of the private cars is far greater than the ecological footprint of green transportation, and the rail transit and public bicycle ecological efficiency is higher. So it is concluded that the green traffic have moreadvantages on saving resources and improving the traffic environment than private cars.Finally, basing on the above analysis and research, and connecting with the present situation of green traffic in Beijing, this paper put forward some measures and suggestions to promote the development of green traffic in Beijing in terms of the promotion of public bicycle, improving the utilization rate of the rail transit, increasing the use of clean energy vehicles.
