As an international company, W company aims to develop itself in China. Thus, it is of great importance for it to choose the local supplier in China. This paper takes China local supplier selection and relationship management of W company as the research topic in order to help W company choose proper local suppliers, manage the relations effectively and improve its competitiveness.This paper raised the problems that current supplier selection criteria are not appropriate for the situation of China local supplier, and it caused supplier relationship issue. The paper suggested new criteria and proposed improvement actions on supplier relationship management.Based on the related theories of the supplier selection criteria, the supplier selection process and the supplier relationship management(SRM), this paper adopts the methods of literature research and case study to carry out the studies on the China local supplier selection and relationship management of W company. First, it explains the current status of the local supplier selection in China and SRM of W Company, takes the local supplier S as an example, and puts forward the existing problems in terms of the local supplier selection and SRM. And then, it analyzes the problems and finds out the reasons for those problems from the perspective of the features of the local suppliers in China and China’s business culture. Finally, by use of the related theories of the supplier selection and SRM, it establishes the supplier selection criteria on the basis of explicit and implicit factors, improves the supplier selection process, and makes suggestions for the supplier relationship management. This paper takes the Supplier S and another potential supplier as objects and evaluates the improved supplier selection criteria.
