Opportunities and challenges have been brought to the large-scale petrochemical engineering companies, after China's entrance to WTO. And they have been required not only to improve the quality and reduce the costs, but also to improve the schedule. As a state-owned large-scale petrochemical engineering company, X company has established a full set of management system, with ten years practice and accumulation of EPC projects. But there are some gaps, compared with the advanced management system abroad. Engineer, always be considered as the "Lead" of the project. The qualities and costs of the project will be determined by Engineer documents. And Whether the Procurement and Construction will be performed strict to a schedule or not also depends on the quality and schedule of the Engineer. Research of the engineer schedule development and management, is important for the company.This paper firstly introduced the background and the situation of the large-scale petrochemical companies, and the importance of the engineering to the project. The research achievement and development state at home and abroad have been get well acquainted with, by reading the literature. Take X project of X company for an example, base on various data collected of field, such as split of the disciplines, the condition relationship between different disciplines, and the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), made the preliminary engineering planning by Network Planning Technical.Considered the resource constraints and set buffer time by Root Square Error (RSE),the base planning of X project had be optimized by the Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM), base on the preliminary planning, and be more reasonable and operable. Then the influence facts were list by Listing Technical and analyzed one by one, and the solution was carried out accordingly, to keep the schedule under the control.Finally, this paper analyzed the feasibility of the application in large-scale petrochemical project, by reviewing the whole process of the research, and put forward the suggestions to improve CCPM.
