Large Petrochemical construction p roject has lots of characteris tics such as: heavy investment, long construction period and etc. C ompared to a norm al project, it tends to be more unpredictable and risky, for exam ple the project adopts high temperature and high pressure devices, meanwhile, the reaction m ediums is unstable and un dertake the potential risk of explosive corrosion hazard. These may result in casualties, econo mic losses, environmental disruption, and even more serious consequences.This paper is conducted based on the resear ch of case study, in accordance with the problem introduction, problem analysis, and problem solution mechanism, to improve the risk management research of X refining desulfuriz ation project during construction period. This paper emphases risk m anagement during cons truction period, on whic h point the current study is still in the prim ary stage in China, which leads to the lack of scientific and standardized management in practice. The main purpose of this project is to putting forward a practical and effective method to improve the risk analysis and evaluation theory on the basis of the theory of risk analysis and evaluation. The first part describes the background, content, significance, ideas and methods of this study. Part two expounds the risk management and the present situation of the project risk m anagement at hom e and abroad and the project risk management in the construction period. The third part focuses on the problems of the project, and describes the overall situation of the problem and the typical hazard. The last but not least part of the case and the risk with expert survey method and experience m ethod in project construction, environmental policy, progress, qual ity, investment, management, technology and other aspects of the main risk factors identification and quantitative analysis, to develop a phased risk countermeasure.Overall, the analysis process and the development of risk c ountermeasures table in this paper will provide ref erential significance to the future studies related to p etrochemical engineering project risk identification, analysis and response to work.
