Research On The Risk Management Of BIM Application Projects

With the rapid development of China’s economy and science and technology, more and more advanced technology have been applied to the field of construction, and BIM is one of the most representative technology. Advanced BIM technology has changed the traditional construction concept and created a new management model for the project which save a lot of resources and improve the effectiveness in each phase. With the observation on overall development of the BIM technology application in our construction projects for recent years, BIM technology as a new, efficient technology is introduced into the traditional construction for many projects but it runs sluggishly. Apparently, the project needs a period of adaptation time when accept a new technology but the major point is that the project will take new risks once new technologies are applied. Therefore, analysis on BIM technology application risk and method of dealing with these risks are significant to make BIM technology applied smoothly.In this paper, we study the BIM technology application risk. Base on BIM technology and project risk management theory and combined with BIM technology application issues and its especial features,a new method is presented to identify, analyze and settle the BIM technology risk. Firstly, based on practical application survey data,using the three coding ideas to conduct a comprehensive risk identification. Secondly, with experts experience in dealing with complex systems problems, reduce system elements and use DEMATEL method to analyze the BIM technology application risk. Finally, according to the characteristics of BIM technology, combined with the project risk dealing theory,we propose risk coping strategies from the perspective of risk manager. In the final paper, base on the BIM project of personal involvement, the application of BIM technology project by the above ideas were to identify, analyze and respond to verify the feasibility of the proposed risk research methods.BIM technology has greatly improved the efficiency of our construction project. Through the study on BIM technology application risk, on the one hand, it provides a method and basis for project manager to control the BIM technology application risk and also plays an important role for the successful application of BIM technology in the project. On the other hand, risk research ideas and methods provided herein has certain reference value to research new technologies in risk areas.
