With the development of the economy and computer technology and network technology, people's pursuit of the quality of life is becoming increasingly urgent. The emergence of smart home just can solve the needs of this area. Imaging when you get up in the morning, a cup of fresh soya-bean milk has been done; when you get up at night, the night lights will automatically turn on. In addition, the improvement of energy saving and environmental awareness also promote the people's desire for smart home. At the macro level, the smart home will use the Internet of things and the “Internet Plus” trend; at the micro level, the smart home will benefit from the trend of technological development.This smart home system is based on the ARM technology and the ZigBee technology. The system is mainly composed of ARM embedded gateway control center which are based on S3C2440, wireless sensor network, home appliances terminal equipment node and PC machine or mobile phone and other remote control terminals. By using the low power consumption, automatically network, scalability and high practicality of ZigBee technology, the wireless sensor network is established in the home. The system takes the S3C2440 processor as the hardware platform of the embedded gateway, and uses the embedded Linux system as the real-time operating system which is transplant the Web server Boa and using Qt programming technology to develop the local control interface. So it can easily be used to control the household electrical appliances at any time and any place. The embedded gateway receives data(such as temperature, humidity, gas, etc.) from the coordination device node by the serial port. The processed data is displayed on the touch screen and sent to the Web server. The user can log on to the Web server which is built on the embedded gateway by the PC or the mobile browser. By this B/S mode(Browser/server mode), the user can monitor and control the household electrical appliances at any time and place. The experimental results show that the system can achieve the function of indoor environment monitoring, household electrical appliances control and so on. At the same time, the experiment also proves that the Zig Bee technology is applied to the low speed area network with low power consumption, scalability and high practicability. This will have a certain value and promote the significance for the development of smart home.
