Rail transit hubs are one of the most important elements of urban transportation system. Because of the complexity of rail transit hubs, the traffic problem suffered by regional road network is in most cases quite serious. Therefore it is now in sore need of digging root cause of the traffic problem of rail transit hubs region, summarizing the characteristics of regional internal transportation operating mechanism and seeking suited sound road network system. Through the study of the research on urban rail transit, urban road network structure model and the concept of road network planning, this Paper collects typical cases at home and abroad, combines qualitative and quantitative methods, explores the main traffic characteristics and planning points of different types of urban rail transit hub area, summarizes the regional road network system suitable for the healthy development of city, and provide some references for future construction. This Paper firstly starts with the transportation characteristics of rail transit hubs and divides the research objects into two kinds, i.e. A and B, thereby confirms the range of road network which will be influenced by the hubs and analyzes the transportation demand required by the rail transit hubs towards its peripheral road network due to its special transportation characteristics. The regional road network structural system of rail transit hubs is then analyzed from both macroscopic and mesoscopic perspectives. The differences, as well as their forming reasons, in hierarchical organization, road network functional structure and layout structure, between domestic and overseas regional road network of rail transit hubs, will be discussed through comparison of graphics mode and quantized data of the selected cases.Furthermore, this Paper indicates the supporting rules of sound road network system with high density and enough continuity towards the slow traffic and public transportation of rail transit hubs region, and further comes up with the concept of "gated community", which suggests to incorporate the potential road resource into special urban branches exclusively for slow traffic and public transportation, and to optimize the branch network at the micro level under the concept of slow traffic and public transportation.Basing on the above research results, this Paper summarizes the optimizing strategy of the regional road network of rail transit hubs. The typical cases before and after road network optimization are compared through a microcosmic transportation simulation software namely VISSIM. It is finally concluded that the transportation efficiency of slow traffic and public transportation will be conspicuously improved after increasing the density of special branches.
