With the rapid development of national economy and increased power consumption of production and resident, electrical fire accidents are more frequent. For most electrical fire accident caused by arc fault.What causes it is that the fault arc current is lower than action current set by over-current protection device when arc fault occurred in low voltage electrical lines. Traditional electrical circuit protection device can not provide effective protection for arc fault?And the arc fault temperature is very high. So when arc fault occurred in the low voltage electrical lines, it is easy to cause electrical fires. Therefore, the low voltage electrical line arc fault monitoring system has been researched and designed in this article.Firstly, the development background of arc fault monitoring system is introduced. The current situation and development trend of arc fault monitoring system is analyzed. The functional requirements of the arc fault monitoring system are analyzed according to GB14287-2014 national standards and user requirements. Block diagram of overall scheme of low voltage electrical line arc fault monitoring system is presented. At the same time, modbus communication protocol of the low voltage electrical line arc fault monitoring system is designed and the use of function code used in the system is elaborated in this paper.Secondly, the hardware system of low voltage electrical line arc fault monitoring system has been designed in this paper. Hardware circuit mainly include arc fault monitoring host circuit, arc fault repeater circuit, arc fault detection node circuit. Selection of the hardware chip is elaborated in this paper. Considering the requirements of the system processor speed, low power consumption, rich peripheral interface and the need of supporting factors such as graphical user interface in the aspect of software, this system select ARM 11 kernel TQ6410 as the core of the whole system master control board. And the principle and concrete realization of each part of the circuit are expounded in detailed.Again, the software system of low voltage electrical line arc fault monitoring system has been designed in this paper, mainly including the design of arc fault monitoring the host application software to write, arcing fault repeater application software to write, and arc fault detection node software.The program flow chart of each module is given.Finally, the testing platform is constructed for the system and the basic function in this system is test according to the functional requirements of GB14287-2014 and enterprises. The test results show that the project design of low voltage electrical arc line fault monitoring system can achieve the basic functional requirements prescribed by the state, be able to stable operation and achieve the desired design goal.
