The tailings pond drainage system as an important part of the tailings pond, is mainly responsible for the size of the water of the tailings pond, to ensure the safe production of mines, to protect downstream life, property and the environment. Therefore, the research on hydraulic characteristics of tailings pond drainage system, has very important significance.The drainage system has various types, calculation process of discharge flow result is complex, the various of data, empirical formula to calculate the result of the discharge flow has a certain error with the actual project. Therefore, this paper based on FLOW-3D software of fluid simulation, establishing three dimensional drainage system model, using the VOF method to track the free surface, using the RNG k—? model to simulate the turbulent flow. The main research contents are as follows:(1)Using the FLOW-3D software for the window type drainage system and frame type drainage system and chute type drainage system conducted numerical simulation, exploring the different reservoir water level drainage system of velocity distribution and discharge characteristics, and comparing the discharge flow results of numerical simulation with the epirical formula discharge flow results. The results show that: In the free discharge flow situation, the discharge flow results of experience formula and numerical simulation results are very close; In full pressure discharge flow situation, window type and frame type drainage system numerical simulation results is bigger 1m3/s than the empirical formula results, the maximum relative error is within 10%, and discharge flow is smaller, higher relative error; For the chute type drainage system, in semi- pressure discharge flow situation, the discharge flow results of epirical formula are larger than the numerical simulation results, and in full pressure discharge flow situation, the two calculation results are more close;(2)For the window type drainage system, to analyze the drainage well section radius r, drain water window area and drainage pipe section area ratio, drain well inlet window display position of drainage system impact analysis. The results show that: increased drainage well section area does not enhance the discharge flow of the tailing pond drainage system, but also should not be too small and need to consider the size of the drainage tube and the window area of the drainage well; The total area of the submerged window is twice than the drainage pipe section area, the discharge flow capacity of the tailing pond drainage systemis can not be enhanced; Different window arrangement can not influent the discharge flow capacity;(3)For the frame drainage system, to analyze the size of the slope of the drainage pipe, different section area of drainage pipe and drainage pipe with different inlet shape of drainage system of flow field and discharge, velocity and hydraulic characteristics influence analysis. The results show that: the greater slope of the drainage pipe, drainage system more prone to semi pressure discharge flow state; Under the semi pressure discharge flow situation, the size of slope will not have great influence to the discharge flow; Under the semi pressure discharge flow situation, velocity of the lower end of the drainage tube inlet is large, it is necessary to strengthen concrete strength; The section area of drainage pipe is more smaller than the section area of drainage well, it is more prone to full pressure discharge flow state; Inlet form of drainage pipe are bevel angle and horn mouth, the water into the drainage tube at the entrance of the velocity is relatively homogeneous and the capacity of discharge flow will be better than right-angle;(4)For the chute type drainage system, to analyze the flat cover plate type, drainage culvert connected to the influence of hydraulic characteristics of drainage system; The results show that: when the reservoir water level is relatively low, the chute type drainage system should use the horizontal cover plate; For the drainage tube disconnected phenomenon, the upper end of the fault section will be impacted by the relatively large flow velocity and will accelerate the erosion of concrete damage, but the discharge flow will not be affected;(5)Based on MATLAB software platform, developed specifically for tailings drainage system hydraulic calculation software, realize the data input and output of the graphical user interface, can be used for engineering design;...
