In order to solve the high grade pavement early damage, extending the service life of the road, we have adopted various methods for modified at home and abroad asphalt.Sulfur asphalt concrete is one kind asphalt concrete with sulfur modifier filled with he main raw material of sulfur and producted by mixing equipment. The unique advantages of sulfur can obviously improve the ordinary asphalt concrete pavement on high temperature rutting and low temperature crack resistance and can replace part of asphalt content. The defect is easy to produce H2S gas under high temperature, cause great harm to human health.In recent years, the foreigners have made a breakthrough to improve characteristics of sulfur and reduce harmful gas emissions so the current sulfur asphalt modifier in china were imported from abroad and there is no research on domestic sulfur asphalt modified pellet. This paper summarized the development process of the domestic sulphur asphalt modifier, namely using sulfur as the main material, adding a certain dose of H2S inhibitor, inhibiting agent, plasticizer and filler, by high temperature mixing and rapid cooling to form solid particles. By comparison of The release amount of H2S between imported and domestic products at high temperature with pure sulfur, the domestic MSP formula was preliminary determinated. Domestic formula made progress om H2S gas emissions under high temperature, and the emissions were decreased significantly compared with imported products. The different formula of asphalt concrete were test by standard laboratory tests, Marshall Marshall immersion, dynamic stability and freeze-thaw splitting test. Compared with various kinds of samples with the imported and domestic products, the pavement performance was similar, especially are significantly improved on the dynamic stability. Comprehensive consideration, an optimal formula was determined for industrial production and test road paving. And process and equipment for were also introduced in this paper.There is need to increase the MSP automatic weighing adding device that could linkage asphalt operating system and to prolong mixing time. On the construction site, compared with imported products, the domestic modifer can significantly reduce the smoke and the paving temperature. Transportation, paving, compaction and curing process were summarized.The detection results of The test section show that domestic sulphur asphalt modifier can effectively improve the performance of ordinary asphalt concrete. The measured data reach or even exceed the imported products, and the test section deflection met the design requirements and the dynamic modulus werr has the pavement performance as imported products.The cost of domestic sulfur modifying agent was lower than those of imported products at the moment about 15?20%,In the future, due to the sulphur prices and quantitative yield increase,the price of MSP will continue to reduce.the domestic MSP can reduce the engineering cost, prolong the service life of road and has good prospects with the same pavement performance.
