In recent years, with the social economic development and market environment change, our domestic construction industry and construction enterprises have been achieved a rapid and stable growth. The construction project management is the main business of construction enterprises, while project management is a very complicated engineering system as its problems of tight of construction period, large investment and high risks are very common, and those problems have dramatically increased the difficulty of the project management. China State Construction Engineering Corporation(CSCEC) is a traditional state-owned construction company. In recent years, similar as other construction companies, with the expansion of business layout and the increase of projects, the company has many problems related to construction schedule management as the issue of completing project on time is tough and there is strong demand to strengthen the project process control.As a crucial part of project management, the objective of project schedule management is to ensure the construction project can be completed on time and to be done under a certain cost. While, the main purpose of construction schedule control is to ensure the project can be completed on time, which will significantly influences companies’ profits and reputations. Therefore the project schedule management is vital to construction enterprises.This paper combines the project schedule management theory with the real construction project by choosing ‘Project A’ in CSCEC as the research object, and the main purpose of doing so is to use project management theory in a real construction project to explore an scientific approach of project schedule management for the similar kinds of construction project.This paper analyses and demonstrates mainly from the following three aspects: 1. It gives an introduction to research background, research significance and methods while reviewing the basic theory that used in this paper. Furthermore, on the basis of assessing the current situation of CSCEC project schedule management, this paper also summarizes and analyzes the existing problems in project schedule management; 2. Through combining the issues mentioned above with the actual situation of Project A, the schedule management plan which is suitable for Project A is designed by various theoretical methods, including project organization, work breakdown structure, Gantt chartand so on. Afterwards, the designed plan will be adjusted and optimized based on the objectives of the project schedule; 3. Tries to control and implement Project A, formulates a procedure for monitoring and management measures, guarantee the preparation, coordination and security management of implementation, and make an objective evaluation for the final result of the implementation.This paper sets Project A as the actual case in order to study the issues occurred in project schedule management. Based on analyzing the related theory of project management, schedule management of Project A is designed and carried out so as to ensure that the project can be completed in ahead of period and effectively, which solves the schedule control problem in the process of project construction. Therefore, this research for Project A schedule management can use for reference, which also plays the promoted role.
